Historia
Millions of people climb the grand marble staircase to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art every year. But only a select few have unrestricted access to every nook and cranny. They’re the guards who roam unobtrusively in dark blue suits, keeping a watchful eye on the two million square foot treasure house. Caught up in his glamourous fledgling career at The New Yorker, Patrick Bringley never thought that he’d be one of them.

Magical Escape to the MOMA
Revisado: 09-02-24
Completely enjoyed this novel and the exquisite delivery of the contents by its author. A tour de force. So meaningful a story that takes one in a journey through the halls and galleries of the Met. It reminds me the next time in NYC (which will be soon as daughter attending college there), a return is a must. The author's sensitive tone and attention to detail makes this read captivating. I recommend it to those who are not only looking for a real escape, but would like to learn a few things about art and about life.

Really impressive production here. Very detailed story of the characters and their relationships to Capote. Personal histories of the Swans, very in-depth and rich. The delivery by the reader is subtle Manhattan upper crust laced with some well deserved sarcasm and irony. A definite read

Historia
Despite being hailed as one of the best guitarists of his era, George Harrison, particularly in his early decades, battled feelings of inferiority. He was often the butt of jokes from his bandmates owing to his lower-class background and, typically, was allowed to contribute only one or two songs per Beatles album out of the dozens he wrote.

it's great hearing Geddy Lee do the reading, feels more personal. I enjoyed very much. As a Rush fan you won't get a tremendous amount of insight into songs and recording structures etc. More about his life and life with the band. Recommended.

When a Review Repeatedly Pans Narration, Believe
Revisado: 05-16-23
The author's book "Heat" was really good and I really liked the narrator. Engaging and ironic etc. I have no idea how this one got past the editors at the publisher. Maybe I don't understand the process. Maybe they aren't part of the audio process. The narration would be rated a negative 5 stars if possible. What is a rambling stream of consciousness on the page could be brought into focus with great narration. Happens all the time. The author is so bad at reading his own material I thought many times of canning it and moving on. I do enjoy the subject matter of cuisine and its world so I persevere.

Loved this book. loved the detail. Reader delivered the goods in terms of irony and tone. My only criticism would be the command of his voice surprises the reader with his lack of Italian pronunciation. De Medici (hard "c") Sangioves (no "e" at end) and countless other missteps. I mean just a little homework please!

Historia
From a master chronicler of legal and financial misconduct, a magnificent investigation nine years in the making, this book traces the political intrigue and inner workings of the Catholic Church. Decidedly not about faith, belief in God, or religious doctrine, this audiobook is about the church's accumulation of wealth and its byzantine entanglements with financial markets across the world.

Good delivery by narrator; story good but tedious
Revisado: 02-21-23
Could have been better, started out strong but very intense sections regarding Vatican politics and dogma dragged down a bit. Was hoping for more discussion on the why's and the how's of the IOR inner workings. Didn't walk away with a clear idea. But still a good book.

Historia
Ten Restaurants That Changed America reveals how the history of our restaurants reflects nothing less than the history of America itself. Whether charting the rise of our love affair with Chinese food through San Francisco's the Mandarin, evoking the richness of Italian food through Mamma Leone's, or chronicling French haute cuisine through Henri Soulé's Le Pavillon, Paul Freedman uses each restaurant to tell a story of race and class, immigration and assimilation.

Historia
This is the cocaine trade. This is how it's done: with hard work and a good system. With coca made into cubes, dissolved in liquid, hidden in marble blocks or inside electric cable. With willing mules swallowing drugs in ovules (they'll be arrested - this is part of the system). With shipments measured in tons. With money in cash, always. And these are the risks: police dogs, scanners, customs, infiltrators - and if you do it right, it will make you rich. And if you don't, you'll spend your life in jail.
