Epic experience

The voice acting is professional and enthralling, and the sound effects are perfectly edited. The sound effects never overpowered or distracted from the narration. To the contrary, the effects complement the narration with appropriate context clues when the characters interact with each other and the environment. In short, the production is simply superb.
The story is a refreshingly unique and captivating reimagining of the vampire tale. The combination of vampires in a dystopian future courtesy of an earth-wrecking, sun-blocking comet is brilliant. My only complaint is that this production is far too short.

Oh, the melodrama

I was so looking forward to this release. The first book was great in laying the foundation, exploring the main’s background, exploring the characters’ personalities, etc. So, I was really thinking the second book would rev up the action. Unfortunately, it doesn’t. Most of the story is the FMC lamenting her circumstances while her men beg and follow her around like puppies. The tone is very “why me, it’s not fair, never take a mate” with a heavy dose of sarcastic dialogue. The narrator has a wonderful snark which only exacerbates the “talk to the hand” attitude she gives throughout. It’s hard to listen to 12 hours of a needy omega who is constantly deriding and rejecting her fated mates who hang on her every word. I can understand a few chapters but several hours? Bored and very close to DNF’ing (blows a raspberry)

Don’t dismiss the title

The title says it all. But I didn’t really consider it to my detriment. It wasn’t the story I was hoping for. But that’s my fault. The story itself, while low-key cliche and fairly unbelievable or perhaps melodramatic, nonetheless is well-written. However, there is an overtone of sadness that I don’t look forward to personally. And the tone is more marriage struggles/successes and less sexual discovery/awakening. Speaking of awakening, this is most definitely MFM - meaning there is no male-on-male action/attraction - as opposed to MMF, which implies a sexual or romantic action/attraction between the 2 males in the triad.
The narration switches by chapter, not by character speaking, which is disappointing by more recent productions. The tones were pleasant enough. While both are talented, I found it slightly…well…boring. However, I did finish it despite my flaky nature, so that says something.
I’m still a huge Jade West fan, but this one is a pass for me overall.

Looking forward to the next!

This was definitely entertaining. I was expecting a dark romance but it’s actually a romantic comedy. There were laugh out lines in this one for sure. I think my favorite was children being described as “crotch goblins.” I had to pause and tell my husband that joke! I loved all the male characters. Each is unique and has depth.
I found the ending to be abrupt. It needed some sort of closure or segue to the next book, IMO. The epilogue, while hilarious, was puzzling. I’m not sure how it serves this story.
There is no MM action (disappointing!) but there is attraction so hopefully it will blossom in the next installment.
Narration was really great all around. I am impressed with the nuances Lance gave to each male character. That kind of performance makes all the difference! Great job!

I love K Webster. Her books are interesting and provocative. This one...is meh. It’s a few hours of 4 young adults trying to figure out if they are romantically interested in each other with bits and pieces of individual back story. It is very new adult IMO - angst overload. It misses the hotness and chemistry I’m used to from K.

Brilliant

Brianna has delivered a beautifully written erotic romance. It is wonderfully romantic without losing its edge. Neither the romanticism nor the eroticism outshine the other; they complement each other naturally. I believe it’s this balance that sets apart the truly exceptional erotic romances, and this story is a perfect example of that balance.
The narration is outstanding. The book’s prose is elegant, delicious, and at times base, which the narrators translate perfectly. A great production. Five stars all around.
