This book was such a refreshing change of pace. I loved that the author gave enough time for the mystery as well as time to set up the small town and develop characters. The narrator was also excellent. She performed the different voices of each character and did their accents very well. I look forward to more books.

Stilted Dialog

I chose this boxed set because the main character is older. It's difficult to find cozy mysteries with older main characters. However, I only made it through the first book, and I fell asleep in the middle of that. I would have gone back to see what I missed, but I found I didn't care.

The main problem was that' the dialog in book 1 was not good. None of the characters used contractions. It lead to very stilted dialog. It was at the point of being distracting. The narrator could only work with what she had, but still, even the narration was very flat. She changed her voice for the main character, but many times she read with a flat voice. It reminded me of how a child might read when called on by the teacher.

I think the mystery portion of the book was laid out well. On the other hand, I did missed some things when I fell asleep.

It’s been a while since I’ve enjoyed such a fun story. It was so much better than the movie. I particularly liked the narrator - he did a good job making the characters sound different and interesting.

Pleasant Sci-Fi Adventure

Loved this story. It reminded me of some old Asimov short stories because there was a little bit of teaching stuffed in between the plot points. The only slightly irritating thing was the narrator couldn’t pronounce didn’t. But, that didn’t take away from the story. Fun, escapist, adventure!

This reading is almost as good as the first book. The only problem I had was that the music on one of the chapters was so loud I couldn't hear the reader.

This was an entertaining book. I really enjoyed the main character's personality. I just wish some of the female characters were not so stereotyped. To me, the reader's voice would have worked better in a western. But overall, I still enjoyed the book.

I am looking forward to the next book.

What made the experience of listening to Theatre of the Mind the most enjoyable?

This book really broke down the concepts of how to achieve what you want in small bite-sized steps.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked his recommendation to think of a happy time in the past to put yourself into a happy frame of mind.

I also liked shadow boxing. What a great idea!

There was a little bit of repeat; I think I heard the same personal stories twice. But, I didn't mind; the stories were interesting. Overall, I liked his simple approach to self-improvement.

I really enjoyed listening to the details on how the brain works. Unfortunately, it repeated the same information quite a bit. On the other hand,the behavioral tips (how to fix a problem) were useful.
