Historia
The Way to Love reveals that there is another way besides laborious self-pushing on the one hand and stagnant acquiescence on the other. It is the way of self-understanding. These things in you that you struggle to fix just need to be understood. If you understood them, they would change, and you would discover that here and now is all is well. Though everything seems a mess, all is well. You would discover that you are already happy and fulfilled right now, and always have been, though you don’t yet know it.

bad narration. timeless wisdom.
Revisado: 03-20-23
The book is awesome but the narration is so slow and monotone that I keep falling asleep. i had to speed it up at 1.6x and put more focus so that I don't fall asleep.

Professor Allison is very interesting to listen to. Other professors are boring and made me fall asleep. She, on the other hand, made it more interesting. Maybe it is the topic I find interesting. But she explained well in Layman's term.

Historia
Professor Thad Polk, of the University of Michigan, invites you to join him for Shocking Psychological Studies and the Lessons They Teach, a six-lecture course exploring a range of shocking psychological experiments from the past that have nonetheless contributed significant insight into the human condition. Dr. Polk elucidates the contemporary ethical principles now in place to protect both subjects and science, but admits that with every new technological and scientific advancement, there also comes a new set of ethical conundrums for researchers to grapple with.

More on the ethical process of research
Revisado: 02-11-22
Controversial studies in the history of psychology done on soldiers, students, etc . Some of them are famous like Milgram's obedience study, Stanford prison experiment, etc.
More on the ethical process of research than actual lessons. A lot of these research examples crossed a line which led to moral outrage and/or change in research protocols, which then is the "lesson they teach."
The studies are quite dark and has violence on it. If you can stomach it, this book is a good summary. If you can't, move along.
The author also asks the listener "what do you think?" It is up to you which side would you believe in. Legally, Facebook has the right since people agreed on TOS upon signing up. But does it breach privacy? Depends on how you look at it. In my pov, it doesn't respect my privacy. That's why I don't use Facebook. I don't like being the product. Can't wait for Web 3.0.

nasal narration. slow and long story.
Revisado: 02-11-22
At a faster speed, the narrator sounds like she has a slight nasal problem. Very long story. People doing things to protect people they love without letting them know because they "love them."
I thought it would be another kind of happy ever after. It went from multiple ups and downs. That one is realistic. There were parts that were predictable but it was a good listen nonetheless. I just find it slow and boring at times. I am sure we can move on removing at least 1/3 of the scenes.

Love hacked
Good plug for Bitcoin! Thumbs up for twist. It was quite long book than I usually listen to. I feel like the story could have been shorter. It was so long and padded. It took me a week to finish it. It wasn't as funny as much as I had hoped. The guy was very serious and boring. Even the narration for the guy was boring too. I think the previous books were funnier. it was an okay listen. Not something I would re-listen nor recommend.

Awesome 3 steps + Ignore, Minimize & Delegate.
Revisado: 02-06-22
We can make more money but we can't make more time.
Everything we wanna do takes time.
More time on things that matter and less on things that don't.
Have spaces on schedule. Assume things can go wrong.
1. Know where time really goes. We tend to overestimate our time on things we don't wanna do and we underestimate our time on things we wanna do.
2. Think in terms of 168 hours instead of 24 hours. The 24 hour mindset is a trap into talking ourselves into thinking we don't have time to do something daily. We don't necessarily have to do them daily. If we think in terms of 168 hours, maybe you can just spend 2 hours in a week for a task. Then it is easier to schedule.
3. Build in open space. A lot of successful people leave open slots in their calendars like an emergency fund in case of emergency, extended meeting, etc.
But first, how do you free up spaces in your calendar? Be careful with what you say yes to. Some things you can say no to.
Ignore. Minimize. Delegate.
Ignore - It is easy to say yes when the if the date is very far in the future like 6 months ahead and your calendar seems empty ATM. It is a trap. So ask if it is something worthwhile. Otherwise, ignore.
Minimize - Some scheduled 1 hour meetings can be handled in a 5 minute phone call. Make the call. Free up time.
Delegate - If other can do it and it frees up your time, delegate. Lower your standards. Sometimes good enough is good enough.

Annoying bg noise. Lesson: DO YOU.
Revisado: 02-05-22
The audio is like an interview and told in tidbits of story from his experiences. The background noise, however, was so annoying that I had a hard time finishing it.
Nothing new. Easy to apply. Here are some tips on dealing with impostor syndrome and being persistent:
Focus on who you are. Stay true to your vision and the persistence will take care of itself.
Be aware of things that you can control and things you can't control. And then concentrate on things you can control. Simon Sinek calls these as things within your sphere of influence.
Do you and keep with it. Rob Dial said "just start doing it and don't stop."
Knowing that working for someone else is not really in his vision, he quit his job with only a dollar to his name. I find it courageous. He called it being "persistently commited to your vision."

Concise. Actionable. Simple.
Revisado: 02-05-22
Concise. Nothing new but all actionable instantly. They're that simple. One might say "well duh, it is common sense." but common sense doesn't always mean common practice.
TIPS:
- No email policy during weekends.
- Take your lunch break or step away from your devices during the day or taking a 15 minute walk to reenergize. Simple and yet a lot of us skip them thinking that it is counterintuitive.
- Make team members feel the sense of autonomy.
- Lead by example by taking break on weekend, taking vacation, leaving early/on time, etc.

slow, sweet and supposedly predictable kismet
Revisado: 02-05-22
I'm not really into destiny/kismet idea. However, I had high expectations given the quality of LB's books I have listened to and loved.
If you like kismet stories, this is a perfect book for you! They're just unrealistic and too predictable for me. At least that's what I thought when I started this book. But boy I was in for a surprise. There were parts that were predictable but there were twists and turns that surprised me.
I love how matured the characters were. They owned their decisions and didn't blame other people. A lot of romance stories I listened too had characters that buried truth thinking that half truth was for the best. The characters on this book, on the other hand, were more matured and adult enough to talk about the elephant in the room.
Other characters were funny too. They're just not developed a lot. The book focused a lot in the office and their romantic life outside work.
Just too long to my liking.
