It Was Okay

I would not have listened to this if it wasn't free. I have read other series from this author; this is similar. The books are okay but too short to be worth a credit. The MC is unaccountably stupid..he never seems to learn from experience. Character arcs are glacial, and half the time is spent on side quests.

I give it high marks because it didn't cost me anything.

Groundhog Day but it lasts a month with magic and telepathic spiders

Be aware this story builds verrrry slowly. There were times where I got sidetracked while listening then picked up the story thread and realized I hadn't missed a thing.

The MC personality arc is very good; he finds out about others and himself. His power arc isn't as strong...he's not strong enough and he dies. Repeatedly.

It's well-written with fewer grammar errors than most. Some reviewers complain about the reader, but I thought he was fine.

Death by Dad Humor

This was a fun "read". It doesn't take itself too seriously, but does introduce serious topics. There's a ton of "Dad" jokes. I laughed outloud more than once. I wish the plot wasn't so rushed.

So Disappointing

I thought this was my favorite kind of story where the MC has a huge disadvantage that he/she must struggle through. I thought the MC would start out as a hindrance to an overly powerful group destined to save everyone. I absolutely love that kind of story. This isn't that. The MC gets over his problem....the problem that has stumped Fools of the past....in what feels like fifteen minutes.

You get the love interest immediately in the story along with the MC's sister, and they follow the MC through the entire narrative. We don't get to see who the MC is all by himself at all.

Instead of his being caught and forced to figure out his problem amid the group of heroes, the MC ends up at a stereotypical magic college and we get a whole other trope which is far less interesting. We get a group of stereotypes for the MC to hang around with.

This story was such a letdown. I've sped it up X2, but I haven't been able to get through it.

The narration seems good except for the Bang! Pow! sounds.

It's a good story

I got into all the characters. The story started out strong then, got a bit uninteresting about halfway through but picked up a lot toward the end.

The extreme violence and the continual F-bomb laced sexual innuendo and situations are not at all to my taste.

As a tribute to how good the story was, I am really tempted to hold my nose and buy part two.

This could have been better

A number of reviews have already covered the problems. 1. Annoying harem trope: every woman who meets the MC wants him. 2. The sidekick who exists just to be abused by everyone else. 3. The sound effects and accents were overdone. 4. The ending left much to be desired.

This book was okay, but I've read the reviews for the next two books. I'm out. The harem was barely tolerable in this book just gets worse.

Not Bad

The story borrows a lot from the manga/anime "So I'm a Spider, So What?". It doesn't suffer for that since the original is a good isekai.

The story starts out slowly but gets better quickly. The narrator really adds to the story. The pets Anthony picks up along the way and the ant colony itself make for entertaining reading. I bought the fourth book too.

The ending

The story kept me interested enough even though the majority of the twists were easy to spot from nearly the beginning. My main problem was the very last twist. We are privy to the MC's thoughts all the way through this long book. That last twist was not set up with any credibility by the author. It was like the MC became a completely different person in the last sentence of the book.

Innocent, even corny, these books are just fun

It is what it is. These are a light read. The male love interest will be apparent almost immediately. Happily Ever After is guaranteed. The plot is fairly predictable. Just don't take it too seriously and enjoy.

I've read many books from this author. I really liked the first two books in this series. This last one feels rushed amd not well thought out. I've listened to the other two several times. This book pretty much ruined the series for me.
