Great series
Revisado: 11-12-18
This book was so much better than the last one in the series. You know who the killer is probably half way through, but it's written that way intentionally. Some of the chapters are written from their perspective. I wouldn't want to give anything away, but it is a really great series and worth checking out. I'd definitely recommend the audios. #Dark #Suspenseful #FemaleProtagonist #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

Historia
In 1950s Quebec, French and English tolerate each other with precarious civility - much like Maggie Hughes' parents. Maggie's English-speaking father has ambitions for his daughter that don't include marriage to the poor French boy on the next farm over. But Maggie's heart is captured by Gabriel Phénix. When she becomes pregnant at 15, her parents force her to give baby Elodie up for adoption and get her life "back on track".

Little known history, well worth the read
Revisado: 11-11-18
I loved this book. It reminded me of other stories that are based on less known historical facts, such as Orphan Train and Before We Were Yours. This book is set in Quebec tells the story of Maggie from when she was a young girl with a crush on the less well-off French boy next door until she is a grown woman. It also tells the story of Elodie, the child that Maggie is forced to give away when she is a teenager. Told from both perspectives and spanning 25+ years, this book is well worth a read. #DualPOV #Quebec #HistoricalFiction #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

Best in series so far
Revisado: 11-11-18
I think this was the best of the series so far. It was a little different from the others as it focused on Jane trying to rescue her son instead of going after the Arcadians. A few of our favorite characters make an appearance and we meet some new people that do not mess around. I love the way some of the regular people band together in different situations and it was good to see the Arcadians looking less indomitable at times. The story had some interesting twists and I'm looking forward to the next in the series. #Bioterrorism #FemaleProtagonist #BestInSeries #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

Great Installment
Revisado: 11-11-18
What a great story. I enjoyed this one a lot more than the last installment. The various relationships within the book are just as interesting as the mystery. I felt that the end was a bit quick in explaining what had happened. There were a couple of situations that were added as ways to quickly list out how certain clues fit together and it felt a bit like an info dump. Aside from that, I found the story engaging and did not have it all figured out before the end. #PrivateEye #RelationshipTension #BestInSeries #UK #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

Mediocre Horror
Revisado: 11-11-18
I thought this was an ok book. It became very good vs evil, God vs. satan. The end was a bit to quick and easy for my taste. There was a great buildup, then....that's it? Ah well, still a decent read with good narration. #Horror #GoodvsEvil #Creepy #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

In her phenomenally popular essays and long-running Tumblr blog, Roxane Gay has written with intimacy and sensitivity about food and body, using her own emotional and psychological struggles as a means of exploring our shared anxieties over pleasure, consumption, appearance, and health. As a woman who describes her own body as "wildly undisciplined", Roxane understands the tension between desire and denial, between self-comfort and self-care.

Tiffany can't avoid being funny: it's just who she is. But The Last Black Unicorn is so much more than a side-splittingly hilarious collection of essays - it's a memoir of the struggles of one woman who came from nothing and nowhere. A woman who was able to achieve her dreams by reveling in her pain and awkwardness, showing the world who she really is, and inspiring others through the power of laughter.

Funny memoir
Revisado: 11-11-18
There were things I loved about this one and things that were just ok. Overall, I thought it was funny. I found myself laughing at things I might not normally laugh at just due to her presentation. I love that Tiffany told things the way she saw them even if they weren't pretty. She didn't try to make herself look like a better person or to appear that she had a more glamorous life, although there was certainly some name dropping. ;) Overall, I enjoyed it. It was short and mostly a good time. #Funny #Memoir #Humor #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

Much better than expected
Revisado: 11-11-18
I'm not sure why I expected less from the book, maybe because of the cover? Whatever the reason was, I ending up loving this book. I thought the writing was excellent and the storyline was interesting. There was only one part that didn't make sense to me, but I thought it was engaging throughout. There were some funny parts and some sad parts. Just the perfect mix. #Funny #Sad #MaleProtagonist #WorldWarII #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

Heartfelt story about losing a child
Revisado: 11-11-18
In the early part of this book, I was annoyed by the MC, Rachel. Her sadness was overwhelming and I felt she wasn’t fair to her husband. However, considering what she had been through, I couldn’t blame her. I can’t even imagine her sorrow.
As the story progressed and you saw her struggle with her grief, I started to understand her better and really feel for her. I even became defensive of her when certain people said things that were insensitive or hurtful. I wanted to help her through her misery. I wanted her to find her way back.
Cee Cee’s story is equally compelling. Throughout the book there are letters that Cee Cee writes to Rachel that tell her story. She is writing these letters in an effort to help Rachel through her grief, as parts of her life parallel Rachel’s. I don’t typically enjoy stories written in letter format, but these letters were able to draw me in and I wanted to know more.
I really enjoyed Cee Cee as a character and feel that her sections in the story were needed to temper the sadness of the rest of the book. Her story isn’t a happy one, but it has a different feel to it. Cee Cee’s story felt like she was making herself feel better by telling it, sort of her way of finally releasing her sadness. Rachel’s parts felt much more like she was drowning in her sorrow and struggling to find a way back. I think without Cee Cee’s letters, much of this story would have been difficult to read.
I’m so glad I decided to read this book. It was just excellent. I look forward to reading more of Ms. Prowse’s future work.

This story took a little while for me to become engaged in and I knew the whodunit before the end, but for the most part it was a good story. The story line was somewhat generic in parts, which is why I knew who did it, but it had a few interesting twists along the way. It was an easy and quick story to listen to. #Paranormal #Ghosts #FemaleProtagonist #tagsgiving #sweepstakes
