Second chance
Revisado: 04-24-25
4.5 stars for the narrator. He does an excellent job with bringing the characters to life. Love when a narrator can do multiple accents for different characters. When you can tell the difference between who is talking that tells you how good the narrator is.
3.5 stars for the story
Tazar is an exorcist who works for the Guild of Mages. He is sent on a mission to warn an Alpha Demon who may be breaking the law. When he encounters the Alpha Demon there is an immediate attraction. Tazar (Taz) does his job very thoroughly. Unfortunately for Taz, who should know better, Alpha Demons do not know how to commit.
The relationship with said Alpha Demon ends and the story jumps forward to 2 and half years later from the first encounter. Taz is burned out and is required to get rest. The place where he is to go has a magical field that takes away all powers and prevents those who stay from lying. Taz is to spend 30 days there. Seems like a great plan until he encounters the other guest his former lover aka the Alpha Demon.
This book was short but, as always, the author is able to pack enough. I liked Taz's and Inuel's relationship. When they were stuck in the sanctuarium together it was the best part of the story. Since they were unable to lie they had to face their truths. This was much harder for Taz and he suffered the consequences with every lie he told. It seems there was more to Inuel's departure than Taz expected. When all was revealed and they got their HEA I was a happy reader.

Who is Haymitch Abernathy?
Revisado: 04-11-25
5 stars for the narrator. He did an amazing job with this book. He brought emotions to the story and had me shed some tears with his interruption of Haymitch.
4 stars for the story.
This is Haymitch's story. We learn about his family, his love and his time in the hunger games. This is how Haymitch becomes the person he is when Peeta and Katniss meet him.
This was so close to being a 5 star read for me but chapter 27 and the epilogue brought it down for me. Still a really good story worth the read/listen.

Could have been better
Revisado: 03-18-25
4 stars for Teddy. 3 stars for David. I'm still not a big fan of dual narration. I hate the vocal changes of the characters whenever the narrators switch. I need consistency. Also can we not do the weird music at the switch of chapters. It is unnecessary and contributes nothing to the story.
2.5 stars for the story. It start off well but just took way too long to play out. I enjoyed the friendship but once they slept together it just went down. The way Henry acted was immature. I was honestly rooting for Harrison to let go and find someone new. I need romance in a romance book not holding out to the very end to give it to me.

4.5 stars for narrator
Nick Russo did a great job narrating this story. He brought the characters to life and keeps you interested in listening to more.
3.25 stars for the story
Niles has worked at a private school for over 16 years. He is in his 40s and single. He stays stuck on the could have beens relationship and career wise. He always feels inferior to others. When news of a new student talented beyond her years is to cone to the school he worries but when said new students father comes too as a teaching add he is rattled.
August is a world renowned artist. He has particpated and lead orchestrates and traveled around the world to live his dream. A child was never in his cards but a fling many years ago changed that. When said fling does something so awful he is forced to take custody od his teenage daughter his life is thrown out of balance.
This was an entertaining story. The relationship between Constantine and Augustus was awful until the end. I didn't understand August pushing for her to speak wheb signing was her preference. Like pick up a book and learn for her. He learned the languages of places he traveled he can learn this for his daughter. He did redeem himself a bit by trying in the ends. As for him and Niles they were sweet but i never felt a connection to them. I did like the book overall.

BUY THE DRAMATIZED VERSIION
Revisado: 12-04-24
FIVE STARS for the narration: This series has five books on audio. There have been 3 narrators total. The first two were fine but the one who does this book was atrocious. Do yourself a favor and buy the dramatized version this version was immensely better. Everything about it was so good. It was my first time ever listening to a dramatized version of any audible and I truly loved the experience. The characters voices and narrations were chef's kiss.
3.5 stars for the story: Nessa is fine but I was never a big fan of hers and I can't say that this story changed my mind. I do love Cassian though.

3.5 stars for the narrator. They are not bad but every voice besides Celaena sounded cartoonish. Story telling was good.

Celaena is one of the most feared assassins. She has spent the last year in a mining prison for her crimes. The Prince of Adarlan comes to her to make a deal. She participates in his father's competition and become his champion and after 4 years of service she will be free. It is a deal Celanena cannot resist. She agrees.

Nothing says you can’t steal a heart. Keeping it though? That’s another problem. Wade Espinoza knows a thing or two about hoards. As a dragon, he’s got plenty. 3.5 stars for Gary Furlong.
I usually do like him as a narrator but here, at times, it was like he was speed reading during his narration. When he spoke with each of the character's voices for the most part he was great. I did not like his voice for Wade but the attitude did seem to match. Overall it was still good and enjoyable to listen to. He does still manage to bring the story to life.
3.75 stars for the story
We know Wade Espinoza as one of the members of the God pack of New York. He is a young dragon shifter with a penchant for snacking. Although things have settled since the battle of Samhain the pack is still busy. So when an issue in Boston pops up the one member available to help happens to be Wade.
There is a battle for territory going on in Boston and the person trying to take over is not playing fair. Niall has stolen the skin of a selkie and is using it as a bargaining chip to gain control of the Maguire clan. A clan that is led by Riordan. Niall has also taken captive the two alphas of the werecreature pack. Wade must work with Riordan and Ella, the dire for her pack, to stop the hostile takeover.
Let me start off by saying I love Wade and could not wait for his story. So happy that it is here. You have to know snacks would be part of the package but tbh I expected more lol. I am happy to see Wade venture on his own but I do prefer him with his pack. I am so happy to know that they won't be separating. Wade found his person. I appreciate how kind and understanding they were to Wade's emotions. The storyline was the usual chaos with special appearances from characters from previous books. I always like seeing that. There was also a surprise thrown in. Overall a good read. I hope there will be more of Wade. Honestly, I look forward to whatever Hailey writes next.

3 stars for the narrator
He was ok. The overall narration was lacking quality. The weird 70s instrumental music at the beginning of each new chapter was distracting and unnecessary. Sometimes the narrator whispered words to low to hear and the narration repeated itself a few times.
4 stars for the story
I love this story now as much as I loved it the first time I read. Still say it needs an epilogue because the ending leaves me unsatisfied.
