Ugh! Syrupy, Sacchrine Soap Opera

This was a romance. I think. I’ve never read one intentionally but must be. Predictable. Clumsily written love scenes. Probably the worst book I’ve listened to in 8 years.

Historia
Revolutionary singer, songwriter, producer, bandleader, and funk icon George Clinton travels the rich cosmos of his musical history. As the second most sampled artist in the world (right behind James Brown), Clinton examines his incongruous path from delivering milk to Sarah Vaughan on Avon Avenue in Newark, New Jersey, to embodying funk as we know it—from Motown to the Mothership. Clinton’s experiences as the mastermind behind his bands Parliament and Funkadelic and as the foremost authority on all things funk make for a distinctive, humorous, and thoughtful journey through modern music.

Just wished it were longer. Glad it had some music along with the antidotes. I’m ready for part 2.

If Davina refuses to move on, Marie won’t be able to either.

A tad saccharine for my taste. The story was extremely predictable but well written. I guess this would be classified as a beach read.

Ooof read like a young adult novel. Fairly strong writing just a flat story with characters right out of central casting

Predictable and Pedestrian
Revisado: 10-19-21
I won't elaborate too much but one could not help but know how the book would end. It was a very straight forward story with unremarkable writing and every story line was neatly wrapped up and all the unhappy single people paired off nicely. The narrator's voice was too saccharine for me. All that being said I was on a very long car ride and it worked for me. My mind could wander and I wouldn't miss anything. I guess this falls in the decent beach read category.

I got this book during a 2 for 1 special because of the rave reviews. It was OK but nothing special. Perhaps a Young Adult novel? It doesn't deserve to be panned but it was merely an unoffensive and ultimately forgettable listen.

Revisado: 02-03-20
This book was an absolutely delicious listen. Just after finishing it I sent a link to it to several of my friends and I will definitely be headed to Harlem to eat. A wonderful blend of culture, history, food, music......all narrated by a man could become a voice artist should he ever get sick of cooking. Thank you Audible!

Saccharine Love Story
Revisado: 01-13-20
I went to school in Athens and lived in the same neighborhood as some of the characters so I slogged through this book. The narrator's male voices were just odd. The story line was predictable. The female characters were, actually all the characters were two dimensional. This is definitely a romance and that's not my genre.
