Gary Karkofsky, A.K.A Merciless, the supervillainy without mercy, has decided to retire from Supervillainy. He's lost too many friends and killed too many people (though they all had it coming). Unfortunately, this proves to be easier said than done when the department of supernatural services (DOSS) shows up to arrest him for all of his crimes. Quickly landing himself in more trouble, he decides to get out of town and help a struggling underground kingdom in the center of the Earth. What he finds is an army of Nazis, gods, lost temples, and dinosaurs.

Leave it at Five Books
Revisado: 03-24-20
After thoroughly enjoying the first four books, the fifth book was good but not great. Read the description for this book and was pumped for a romp through Pellucidar. Unfortunately the romp turned into a huge stumble.
This installment horrid story-wise. Even Jeffrey sounds bored with it. For the moment, stick with the first five books and save your credits for something better.

Legion Dark Ops calls upon Chhun, Wraith, and the survivors of Victory Company to form an elite Kill Team of legionnaires in the aftermath of the Battle of Kublar. Their mission is clear: find and eliminate those responsible for the Kublar disaster. Standing between them and their objective are a maze of corrupt Republic officials, a spy on the verge of losing himself in deep cover, and the Zhee - a murderous species that will stop at nothing. But the biggest threat of all might be the truth they seek to uncover - a truth that could ignite a revolution. And engulf the galaxy in flames.

Tale of Two Books
Revisado: 07-10-19
Kill Team is an excellent book with the writing being consistent with what we've seen through the two books.
Attack of Shadows is an interesting concept but goes way too far into the Star Wars realm of incredulity. No character development. Bad science. Let's take a space faring civilization and leave them with a WWII military and design tactics. And now we have the force working in Goth Sullus.
Attack of Shadows just made me angry. Contrived situations to fit the plot narrative. So an ex-legion can jump on a moving starship, hang on while it's ascending through the atmosphere of a planet and cut through the plating with a torch??? A wall on a moon for defensive purpuses?? Guard towers? A moon that is a gun emplacement??
I kept going with the book because I felt I may miss something vital by skipping to the next book in the series. You won't. Do yourself a favor and just skip it.

If it wasn't for Ray...
Revisado: 07-01-18
I would have never finished this book. Loved Dennis's Bobiverse books but this book is horrible. One dimensional characters, stereotypes galore, today's politics, razor thin plot and horrible science. Very slow deadliest catch start leads to what should finally give the reader some action they've been craving, but ultimately leads to disappointment. Not sure if this was a book Dennis wrote prior to the Bob books (i.e., his first book), but hopefully this isn't what we have to look forward to in the future.

Historia
Something called the “Blue Juice" is coming. For all of us. Luckily, me (Chip Collins), Pete, Nikola Tesla, Bobo, and FBI Agent Gina Phillips are here to kick its ass, and send it back to last Tuesday. Maybe. Or maybe we'll fail, and everyone in the multiverse is doomed. (Seriously, you might want to get that underground bunker ready.) Either way, I've got to get home to Julie and find out – woah, I'm not about to tell you that right here in the book description! TMI, dude.

Rob,
So I immediately click purchase on your audio book and you know what? I'm treated to another fun and amazing narration by you. I laugh, I smile, ooh and ahh, and you even get me, a 54 year old grumpy male, to feel a little love and happiness inside.
Isn't that what all books should do?
Thanks again for your hard work and narration. Look forward to traveling the ITA with you soon.
Big hugs,
Bill

The young nation of Fatrasta is a turbulent place - a frontier destination for criminals, fortune hunters, brave settlers, and sorcerers seeking relics of the past. Only the iron will of the lady chancellor and her secret police holds the capital city of Landfall together against the unrest of an oppressed population and the machinations of powerful empires.

Maybe I'm getting too old for this
Revisado: 04-06-17
What did you like best about Sins of Empire? What did you like least?
Enjoyed the first half of the book
What was most disappointing about Brian McClellan’s story?
Not close to his original trilogy. Way too many cringe worthy story arcs that only exist to push the thin plot along the way he outlined. Characters, with the exception of Ben, very flat.
Which character – as performed by Christian Rodska – was your favorite?
Ben
Do you think Sins of Empire needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
It will, but not sure I'm going to jump on it as quickly as the prior books.
Any additional comments?
Not sure how this is getting 5 star ratings from readers of the previous books. Just a thin facade of the Power Mage trilogy.

The folks in Mike Erikson's small New England town would say he's just your average, everyday guy. And that's exactly how Mike likes it. Sure, the life he's chosen isn't much of a challenge to someone with his unique gifts, but he's content with his quiet and peaceful existence. That is, until an old friend presents him with an irresistible mystery, one that Mike is uniquely qualified to solve.

Revisado: 06-30-15
What would have made The Fold better?
A much better thought out last third of the book.
Would you ever listen to anything by Peter Clines again?
I will be much more careful in the future.
What about Ray Porter’s performance did you like?
He does a good job reading but is very weak on doing female characters.
What character would you cut from The Fold?
Sasha

Revisado: 07-28-14
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
If the author had not done a complete 180 from Blood Song
What was most disappointing about Anthony Ryan’s story?

Have you listened to any of Steven Brand’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
About the same
What character would you cut from Tower Lord?

The tiny kingdom of Yurt is the perfect place - or so it seems - for someone who barely managed to graduate from the wizards' school, especially after all that embarrassment with the frogs. But Daimbert, newly hired Royal Wizard of Yurt, senses an evil spell at work. But who could be responsible? The beautiful young queen? Her flighty aunt? The dour chaplain? The old, retired Royal Wizard, who seems to know more than he's saying? Or someone from out of the castle's past?

Possible issue with 2nd file
Revisado: 07-28-13
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
A better narrator. The second audio file not skipping a number of chapters
What did you like best about this story?
It's an interesting take on detective fantasy
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
The narrator does not have a good voice for characters nor for audiobook narration as a whole.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment
Any additional comments?
2nd file possibly corrupt
