The entire book is just hours and hours of stories that go like this. Meet Bill. Bill has been struggling with pain in his _____ for years. After extensive tests, they could not find anything wrong with Bill. I suggested Bill had stress illness. After talking to Bill about his life and digging deeper into his (self esteem, or childhood, or family issues). We concluded Bill's stress was caused by someone at his work, or his childhood, or dealing with his parents. After taking care of that, Bills pain in his ______ dissolved. Then Repeat, repeat, repeat all the way to the end of the book.

He briefly talks about keeping a stress inventory which is writing all the things down that bother you then reorganizing from greatest to least bothersome and start working on them. He advises seeking counseling and treating the brain with care like any other organ in your body by doing so.

I agree 100% with the author, I was just bored... it was like I was saying "ok, I got it, now give me a "How To".... the "How To" never really panned out.

If you want more confidence in understanding the Mind / Body connection I would highly recommend reading works from Dr. John Sarno (although he can be a little wordy, just skip over the scientific jargon and get to the How To parts. Also Steven Ozanich. Also, find yourself an EMDR and or BSP therapist. It will do wonders.

Self-Disclosure: I read this book on a recommendation and am trying to educate myself on all the credible literature in this field so I can teach it one day.

If you have listened to other stuff by Martin Meadows and like that format, you are not going to find anything new here. In my opinion, I would take his other works on Self-Discipline and apply those principles to eating a more evidence-based nutrition plan.

This book might get you motivated to eat right, but if you are uneducated on nutrition, after reading this book, you will just be a motivated and uneducated person on the subject.

Read Meadows for Discipline, not nutrition. I like his strategies for using a journal, scheduling your cravings and the instruction to stay away from emotional eating. Don't get me wrong, this is written in an easy to understand manner. I just can't recommend the particular nutritional advice. For the absolute best in updated nutritional advice, I would recommend reading "How Not to Die: Discover the Foods Scientifically Proven to Prevent and Reverse Disease" first then read this book for self-discipline.

Disclaimer: I was given this audiobook for free in exchange for an honest review.

This was a wonderful book! I really enjoyed how the narrator read the book (However, he read a little slow, I ended listening to the book at 3x speed for this one).

Dr. Campbell is very fair in his assessments and he lays out the facts in a way where once he makes his conclusions, you feel as though you would have made the same conclusions. This book is scientific but written for all audiences.

The only gripe I have is who in their right mind would ever be able to listen to the last chapters (recipes). Recipes should be written. Audio books are when I am multitasking, running, or driving. I can't possibly write down all the recipes or remember we them.

Would you try another book from Brian Tracy and Christina Tracy Stein and/or Brian Tracy?

Yes, but only if the recording is done more professionally. First off, Brian is smacking his lips like crazy. Why this was not edited out is annoying. It also sounds like Brian is not doing this in a studio but maybe at his own home. It sounds like he is on a cheap microphone or is in a very small room and the echo sounds like he is in a box. This wasn't something I picked up with the lower quality sample; Maybe it was because I was busy doing other things and I had other distractions but listening to the recording now I regret buying this title. I mainly bought it because of the credibility of Brian's previous works. From now on I will think twice before buying another Brian Tracy audiobook. The print versions are still awesome though.

Who was your favorite character and why?

N/A

How could the performance have been better?

It could've been recorded in a studio, the sound could've been edited first, or Brian could have let some other narrator narrate his book.

Any additional comments?

I really like what Brian Tracy has to offer, but the sound of this recording is so unbearable that I'm not sure if I am really getting much out of it because I am so distracted by his lip smacking and the background noise.
