Historia
In 1940, art-world icon Georgia O'Keeffe bought a house in a mountain-rimmed New Mexico desert, planning to live there for six months every year. To manage her remote household while she paints, O'Keeffe invited Maria Chabot—a young and naïve would-be writer—to join her. Their tempestuous relationship endured throughout the chaotic years of WW2, the death of Georgia's domineering, philandering husband (Alfred Stieglitz), and Maria's design and building of a remarkable adobe house and studio for the artist in the native village of Abiquiu—a generous gift from an exceptional friend.

This is a wonderful review of a woman Maria, who gets only half a page and Wikipedia write up on her. This is wonderful to see someone get there just you thank you for the author for making this happen. I really enjoyed this book.

Historia
The Gardener Estate is one of the most storied and beloved places on the West Coast: a magnificent house in vast formal grounds, home to a family that shaped California—and fought hard to conceal the turmoil and eccentricities within their walls. And now, just as the turmoil seems buried and the Estate prepares to move into a new future, construction work unearths a grim relic of the estate's history: a skull, hidden away some fifty years ago.

Historia
Sergeant Jim Chee’s vacation to beautiful Antelope Canyon and Lake Powell has a deeper purpose. He’s on a quest to unravel a sacred mystery his mentor, the Legendary Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn, stumbled across decades earlier. Chee’s journey takes a deadly turn when, after a prayerful visit to the sacred Rainbow Bridge, he spots a body floating in the lake. The dead man, a Navajo with a passion for the canyon’s ancient rock art, lived a life filled with many secrets. Discovering why he died and who was responsible involves Chee in an investigation that puts his own life at risk.

Solid in Culture. Decent story
Revisado: 04-24-22
This book was very strong in H it’s coverage of Navajo culture. The story was not complicated and it times a little unrealistic but compelling enough that I enjoyed listening to it all the way to the end. No narrator was excellent and the use of Navajo expressions added to the ambience of the reading

Historia
What begins as a typical day for Officer Bernadette Manuelito - serving a bench warrant, dealing with a herd of cattle obstructing traffic, and stumbling across a crime scene - takes an unexpected twist when she’s called to help find an old friend. Years ago, Bernie and Maya were roommates, but time and Maya’s struggles with addiction drove them apart. Now Maya’s brother asks Bernie to find out what happened to his sister. Tracing Maya’s whereabouts, Bernie learns that her old friend had confessed to the murder of her estranged husband, a prominent astronomer.

Excellent work. Well read, One small quibble
Revisado: 07-27-21
The author does a good job of integrating the three main characters, keeping enough mystery in the story, and as usual does a fantastic job of setting the stage with her descriptions of the landscape
The story was well read however I was surprised that the reader did not know the proper pronunciation for Canyon de Chelsy. Don’t audible books have proof listeners?
Having said that this was all in all a good lesson
