Historia
By the tender age of five, Bernie Mac had found his calling: making others laugh. He has since become the star and cocreator of Fox’s hit sitcom The Bernie Mac Show; a stand-up legend; and a hit movie star in Head of State and Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle. Now, this amazing comedian delves deep down inside to retell the poignant and hilarious story of his childhood and the people who helped shape him into the comedian - and the strong and self-reliant man - he is today.

Bernie Legend
Revisado: 01-25-24
You never know what a person has been through in their lives until you hear it from them. I knew Bernie Mac from Def Comedy Jam, Kings of Comedy and all the movies and shows he was in. Hearing what he went through to get there made my heart heavy and proud all in one. Through the struggle, he kept moving forward. A lesson everyone should be taught. This was a very good book, one that I may have to listen to again.

Very Informative
Revisado: 06-28-20
There is so much information in this that everyone should read the book. I say read the book because an hours could be cut from this book if the phrases, “quote... end of quote” were removed. It was said so much that it became very annoying. Sometimes it was said for the dumbest reasons. I know it is imperative to state exactly what was said but you don’t have to do it every time. Other than that, this was an excellent book. I just suggest reading it so quote, you don’t have to hear quote, end of quote every other sentence, end of quote.

Historia
"I’m James Taylor and I’m a professional autobiographer", says the celebrated folk singer at the start of this tender audio memoir. Through decades of music by one of the best-selling musicians of all time, who created classics like "Fire and Rain" and "Carolina in My Mind", James Taylor has doled out his history in the poetry of his work. Taylor says his early life is, "the source of many of my songs", and Break Shot is a tour of his first 21 years in rich, new detail.

Only 21 years
Revisado: 03-15-20
This book had a mixture of musical performance mixed with James Taylor’s life story for his first 21 years. Truth be told, he did more in 21 years than most will face in a lifetime. It’s amazing, we see the finished product not knowing the trials and tribulations that take place to get there. Very good book.

Gone to soon
Revisado: 01-21-20
I have always loved Luther Vandross because his voice was truly one sent from the heavens. The fact that he never really received recognition from the pop world till the end of his career is reprehensible of our society. That being said, hearing some background of some of the stories I heard in the past was informative. The orator should not have sung but the narration of this book was well done. Recommend to everyone who wants to know a little more about the great one that is Luther.

Jalen Rose has never been quiet. Not as a kid growing up in Detroit in the '70s and '80s. Not as the brash, trash-talking leader of the legendary "Fab Five" at the University of Michigan. Not as the player under the stewardship of Hall of Famers Larry Bird, Isiah Thomas, and others throughout his 13-year NBA career. And certainly not as a commentator and analyst on ABC/ESPN and Grantland.

Surprised
Revisado: 09-07-19
I will first say that I went in to this expecting it to be bad. I haven’t been a fan of Jalen Rose just from the appearance I saw in television. After hearing his story and his honest and passionate story, he changed me. His loyalty to family and friends, being honest to people telling his story and attempting to man up to Chris Weber even through Weber acting like a jerk, not to mention his school. Jalen is a real good dude. Highly recommend this book and wish I would have gotten it sooner.

Historia
The standout memoir from NBA powerhouse Andre Iguodala, the indomitable sixth man of the champion Golden State Warriors. Andre Iguodala is one of the most admired players in the NBA. And fresh off the Warriors’ third NBA championship in the last four years, his game has never been stronger. Off the court, Iguodala has earned respect, too - for his successful tech investments, his philanthropy, and increasingly for his contributions to the conversation about race in America.

The best I have downloaded on Audible
Revisado: 07-30-19
I almost didn’t get this but, I wanted to know more about mr Iguodala because I enjoy the way he plays. I was utterly impressed with his story, the way he looks at people, the game and life. I was not disappointed with the flow of the book, the story that was being told and how it was told. The narrator wouldn’t make stimulus voice changes, to often and it was a great flow.
I wish the book was longer because I sincerely enjoyed hearing the struggle growing up, the fire used to succeed and seeing how he thought people thought and treated him. Highly recommend this book.

One of the best
Revisado: 01-28-19
I was hesitant to purchase this book because I, am one of the people who went away from Nike's because of the sweat shop crises and the perceived over saturation of Nike. To my amazement, I am so happy to have got this. It let me see that Phil Knight was just an average guy with a desire to succeed even after many, many, many failures. One of the best decisions ever.

Historia
Amid rising gang violence, the crack epidemic, and police brutality, a group of unlikely voices cut through the chaos of late 1980s Los Angeles: N.W.A. Led by a drug dealer, a glammed-up producer, and a high school kid, N.W.A. gave voice to disenfranchised African Americans across the country. And they quickly redefined pop culture across the world. Their names remain as popular as ever: Eazy-E, Dr. Dre, and Ice Cube. Dre soon joined forces with Suge Knight to create the combustible Death Row Records.

Just read the book
Revisado: 04-15-18
The story was excellent. A lot of information that was never told and lets you see the uprise of west coast rap and the fued. Great info on the key players as well. I just wanted it to end though because of the narrator constantly trying to imitate the voice of the people quoted. Imitating women and men alike, he was horrible. Everytime he began to quote a song or their words, i cringed. What could have been a great audible book was just good because of the narrator.

Better than expected
Revisado: 01-31-17
The thing that makes this do great is that it is read by Trevor. He was able to properly pronounce his friends and family members names, tell the stories how he saw them and out the emotion with what was being said. You could actually visualize everything and seemed like every place he had been. All of the rave reviews are well warranted and I can't wait for whatever he decides to write next.
