Historia
Maine, 1789: When the Kennebec River freezes, entombing a man in the ice, Martha Ballard is summoned to examine the body and determine cause of death. As a midwife and healer, she is privy to much of what goes on behind closed doors in Hallowell. Her diary is a record of every birth and death, crime and debacle that unfolds in the close-knit community. Months earlier, Martha documented the details of an alleged rape committed by two of the town’s most respected gentlemen—one of whom has now been found dead in the ice.

Enchanting historical fiction
Revisado: 10-30-24
A great listen with a thick plot and detailed characters. The historical period is well detailed in the story of a nineteenth century midwife, her town and family. Suspenseful and enlightening read. I highly recommend listening.

In the late ’60s, a small group of elite American women convinced an overwhelming majority of the country that destroying the most fundamental of relationships - mother and child - was necessary for women to have productive and happy lives. The decay of the entire family, and almost overnight, our once pro-life culture became pro-lifestyle, embracing everything that felt good. Sixty million abortions later, women aren’t showing signs of health, happiness, and fulfillment.

This is who we as women are called to emulate and ask to intercede for us. Mary is the perfect role model that the feminist discount at an enormous cost. Beautifully and boldly written.

Horrible. Trying to kill her own infant
Revisado: 01-17-23
This is crass and demented. The narrator for Verity sounds forced with her voice either breathless or rising at the end of every sentence.
The child abuse and horror of listening to part of it made me turn it off and walk away. Trash.

Sidney Crosby is ready to tell his story in his own words. As one of the greatest NHL players of all time, he reflects on his 2005-06 rookie season with the Pittsburgh Penguins. From a Canadian phenom dubbed “the next Gretzky” to an 18-year-old carrying the burden of a struggling franchise, he talks candidly about the intense pressure he was under, the surreal experience of lacing up alongside his childhood idol Mario Lemieux and the truth about his rivalry with Alex Ovechkin.

Very well done and straight forward. All of the perspectives telling Sidney Crosby’s story (including him) held our interest while creating a full picture of Sidney’s first NHL year and prior. I’m now a fan.

The book and story are fresh and nostalgic at the same time. What an uplifting small town story with well developed dynamic characters. The wry humor and quirkiness of the townsfolk ground the story making it relatable. Thank you for writing this story and bringing the reader rooting for each character.

Waxes Woke
Revisado: 03-25-22
I enjoyed the premise of this podcast and the beginning of listening to it. However, I was listening for enjoyment and suddenly the wokeism of gender ID and females not identifying as females and likewise with males, racism is prevalent, the environment, and all of the media and current government leader's talking points are being driveled about. For two women who claim to have their own thoughts, they differ a lot to the media's talking points of the past two plus years.
I just wanted something fun and unique to listen to without any preaching on woke ideas. Why is this so hard to get from the generation who created this. Don't sit back what you hear. No one wants to hear it throughout everything you do. Just let it lie. You spoke of diet ads and pressures put on women to keep their weight down as propaganda, look in the mirror on your social lecturing.
Don't lie you say. You lied.

Historia
From Andre Agassi, one of the most beloved athletes in history and one of the most gifted men ever to step onto a tennis court, a beautiful, haunting autobiography. Agassi brings a near-photographic memory to every pivotal match and every relationship. Never before has the inner game of tennis and the outer game of fame been so precisely limned. In clear, taut prose, Agassi evokes his loyal brother, his wise coach, his gentle trainer, all the people who help him regain his balance and find love at last with Stefanie Graf.

Revisado: 03-22-22
Agassi tells his story with raw honesty, pain and humor. He puts it all out there, which is a rare gem. The hubris in his story is very relatable and brings the curiosity of the listener into the story on his rollercoaster life. As a former D1 tennis player, I thoroughly enjoyed being taken inside Agassi's mind in various matches. Open is an honest look into a curious life and the memoir is worth the listen. Thank you, Andre for sharing so much of your life and yourself. Open is an apt title.
To the listener, Open is worth the listen as it offers a unique perspective of an interesting life and career of a top level athlete and human being. Enjoy.

It’s okay
Revisado: 02-02-22
The author repeats herself and waxes political at times. It is her story, but there’s an air of knowing better along with an under current of envy weighed with assessment of each family.
The families and the privilege is interesting and a bit sad.

Our gut is almost as important to us as our brain, yet we know very little about how it works. Gut: The Inside Story is an entertaining, informative tour of the digestive system from the moment we raise a tasty morsel to our lips until the moment our body surrenders the remnants to the toilet bowl. No topic is too lowly for the author's wonder and admiration, from the careful choreography of breaking wind to the precise internal communication required for a cleansing vomit.

A wonderful job by the narrator. She's a delight to listen to with her proper accent and well-timed wit. I learned valuable information on the complexity of the gut and our world. I really enjoyed the combination of knowledge shared, dry humor (always appropriate), and her beautiful voice. Well done to the author and to the narrator. Thank you.
