Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Best Book Ever Read or Listened To
Revisado: 09-29-23
The is the best book I’ve ever read or listened to. A while back, Audible posted a question on Facebook asking people what their favorite listen was and after seeing this book mentioned repeatedly, I had to get it. I’m glad I did, otherwise, I would’ve never gotten it and that would be a shame because it it truly amazing. The narrator does a really fantastic job and the added sounds make the characters and story come to life. The only negative I have is that from here on out, nothing I read will be as good as this.

Historia
Ride alongside Jon Moxley as he retraces some of the highways traveled on his remarkable journey. Revel in the never-before-told stories about his early life in Cincinnati, Ohio; the gritty independent wrestling scene where he cut his teeth; the complicated corporate landscape of the WWE where he bucked against authority; and the rebellious upstart AEW, where he won the championship in 2020 and was finally free to achieve the vision of the wrestler he'd always wanted to be. With plenty of pitstops and revelatory insights, MOX is the riveting account of the life of a brawler.

Great Book
Revisado: 06-26-23
I’ve read many wrestling industry books and this was my favorite. I appreciate how “real and unapologetic” this felt compared to many others. I love that he read it himself and did some impressions- made it better than just reading. However, the book is all over the place and there’s no timeline or theme from chapter to chapter.

The waters of the Caribbean run red in this brutal tale of revenge during the Golden Age of Piracy. Katherine Lindsay, the pampered young wife of a wealthy ship captain, has left her leisurely life in London to accompany her husband to America. So far, their journey has been uneventful, even boring. But when ruthless pirates suddenly storm the ship to plunder her husband's riches, Katherine is one of the treasures they steal, sparking a bloody chain of events that will alter the course of piracy in the Caribbean forever.

Fantastic Female Lead
Revisado: 10-20-21
This is one of my all time favorite books. Finally, a book with a female main character that isn’t obsessed with romance or overcompensating for not being a man. It’s very difficult to find books with female leads that aren’t driven by relationships or being overtly “manly”.
Plus, the actual story is really great - lots of pirate character and lore.
I have this as a book and as an audio book because I like it that much.

Working at a dead-end retail job in the middle of nowhere can be hard. The long hours. The helpless customers. The enormous eldritch horror living deep below the building. As the only full-time employee at the 24 hour gas station at the edge of town, Jack has pretty much seen it all. But when he decides to start an online journal documenting the bizarre day-to-day occurrences, he unwittingly attracts the attention of much more than just a few conspiracy theorists.

Good Narrator, Disappointing Story
Revisado: 11-03-20
The narrator was absolutely fantastic!!! The main character’s nonchalant carefree attitude towards the craziness he encounters is enjoyable and very funny at times. However the story is not good. Weird things happen just for the sake of being weird and never gets resolved. Much of story doesn’t get resolved and doesn’t have any reason to be included. It’s like multiple short stories combined into one without resolutions.

Historia
For 13 years, 22 series and 175 shows, Richard Porter was script editor of Top Gear, from the first faltering pilot episode in 2002 until the very last show presented by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May in 2015. Along the way they destroyed cars, sparked diplomatic incidents, set fire to caravans, almost killed one of the presenters, and somehow transformed Top Gear from a shabby BBC Two motoring show into an Emmy-winning, record-breaking, planet-straddling behemoth.

Must Read For Top Gear Fans
Revisado: 09-14-20
As a fan of the show, I really enjoyed this book as it really went in depth on all points of the show. The narrator was also fantastic!
In my opinion, however, when the author goes into theories of why Top Gear became so popular, I disagree. It’s not a car show it’s a comedy show. The author obviously knows more about the show than I do, but I watched it not because it was about cars but because it was funny and happened to talk about cars.
Before watching the show, I knew nothing about cars, car types, engines, or anything automotive but my husband had it on TV one day and it was funny so I started watching it. We ended up watching the entire series and The Grand Tour during the COVID lockdown.
That being said, the book is a fantastic companion piece to the show and I enjoyed hearing about the innerworkings of the show.

Historia
On Christmas Eve, 1818, in a small Austrian village, a local Catholic priest and a church organist composed a Christmas carol that changed the course of holiday music forever. Exactly two hundred years later, it’s not the holiday season until you’ve heard “Silent Night” in the car, at the store and on TV – all in the same day.
In Jingle Bell Pop, John Seabrook, acclaimed author of The Song Machine, takes us deep inside the holiday music business. We go behind the scenes to meet some of the producers, songwriters and recording artists responsible for the timeless tunes we hear on repeat between Thanksgiving and Christmas every year.

It’s a war filled with larger than life characters. There will be sledging, accusations of cheating, theft and performance enhancing drugs. And allegations that Australia was cheated out of a Guinness World Record. In the process of charting the scandal-plagued race to breed the world’s hottest chilli, the audio documentary lifts the lid on the subculture of ‘Chilli-heads’, hardcore chilli fans spread across the globe who compete in chilli eating and breeding competitions.

Boring and bland
Revisado: 11-25-19
The story never really got going. There wasn’t really a climax and the overall story arch just fell flat. Each episode or chapter was basically an interview. I felt like the author/narrator/journalist needed to delve more into the pepper growing race instead of just interviewing the “top farmers” and mentioning conflicts. Basically, it was just boring. The audio was really good though.

Fantastic Book & Narration
Revisado: 11-19-19
I read a lot of pirate books -nonfiction and fiction and this is my favorite. It explores women pirates that weren’t even mentioned in other books as well as how these women’s stories are perceived and were recorded. The narrator was also excellent.

In the best-selling tradition of Bill Bryson and Tony Horwitz, Rinker Buck's The Oregon Trail is a major work of participatory history: an epic account of traveling the entire 2,000-mile length of the Oregon Trail the old-fashioned way, in a covered wagon with a team of mules - which hasn't been done in a century - that also tells the rich history of the trail, the people who made the migration, and its significance to the country.

Good story but too long
Revisado: 02-15-17
I liked the combination of trail history and the authors modern trail journey. I also liked the authors narration, especially because it was his journey. However, I thought it could have used some trimming down. It's a long 15 hour audio book.

Historia
For Captain Charles Hunter, gold in Spanish hands is gold for the taking, and the law of the land rests with those ruthless enough to make it. Word in port is that the galleon El Trinidad, fresh from New Spain, is awaiting repairs in a nearby harbor. Heavily fortified, the impregnable harbor is guarded by the bloodthirsty Cazalla, a favorite commander of the Spanish king himself. With backing from a powerful ally, Hunter assembles a crew of ruffians to infiltrate the enemy outpost and commandeer El Trinidad, along with its fortune in Spanish gold.

Not good
Revisado: 11-08-16
I heard the Crichton didn't finish the book and this was only a first draft, but I enjoy pirate books so I thought I'd give it a go. It was boring. I also had trouble listening to the narrator, because his voice was so deep.
