Disappointing Narrator
Revisado: 05-03-25
This narrator’s men’s voices were terrible. All of her men sounded hoarse or comical. Each of this series has had a different narrator, which has been disappointing. The writer and her readers deserve better.

Character growth. Interesting double stories throughout. It also has a satisfying ending. Well done. Kudos.

Historia
Evan Evans is settling into his role as Constable of Llanfair, a small town nestled in the mountains of North Wales. Here, he has been a mediator of the minor disputes of the locals, between competing ministers, country merchants, and seemingly every Welch eccentric throughout the region. But an unusual series of events brings unseen hostilities to light, and Evan realizes just how deep the townsfolk's passions and hostilities lie.

Nice short story!

Fun to read Rhys Bowen’s first series after reading all her others. The performance was good, except for when he was reading the narrative text in between the spoken parts. He read this on a very low (quieter) voice which was hard to hear.

Character development not as good as most other books of this author. More difficult to care about the characters.
