I loved this book from the beginning. Sanderlin did a phenomenal job narrating and the story line ebbing back and forth from their summer spent together only added a fondness to the tale of two guys (Will and Olli) fighting stereotypes and fears to give in to their love for each other. It will have you laughing and crying - sometimes simultaneously. But it’s definitely one of my favorites, and I hope there is a second book so we can find out where Will and Olli’s relationship leads them as they navigate through college. Awesome job, Sophie!

“Milo” is another great audiobook by Lily Morton - best read after her book, “Oz.” It immediately picks up where Oz and Silas are in the series, but it goes a bit further by exploring Milo’s brief history with relationships and the negative effect his has on his life. Fortunately, Milo finds solace in his childhood crush - a man that unknowingly admires (and actually loves) him. The book takes a bizarre twist in the last 50 minutes that will leave you experiencing a plethora of emotions all at one time. However, Morton brings it all together and you’ll be smiling and maybe crying (with joy) at the end. It’s definitely in my ‘top ten list’ of books; I know you’ll enjoy it, too!

Neuhold just became one of my favorite authors - just as Zaba became one of my favorite narrators. The book was well written, kept my attention, and was irresistible to stop listening! The story is cute, nerdy, yet adorable. I look forward to reading/listening to more of Neuhold’s work, as well as Zaba’s narration.

My first time reading Walker, but I must say it won’t be my last! Galaxies and Oceans is truly a touching story. The content kept me from getting a couple nights of rest because I was honed in to the beauty that was Patrick and Aubrey. Laughs, tears, and more smiles will come when you take the time and get this book! Definitely a must read!

This was the first of Calmes’ books I read, and I must say I was, surprisingly, overwhelmed by her writing. “Stand in Place” was a divergence of many forces - a coming of age, the cruelties of stepping outside the closet, the consequences of doing so, and the ability to resolve old wounds while finding love in the process.

Returning to Braxton, the Texas town that haunted his youth, a young professor (Kanaan) settles in to care for his grandmother, Jo, who’s faced with terminal cancer. He’s haunted by the rejection of the town he grew up in, as well as his immediate family who had shunned him for coming out as gay at the age of 14. His grandparents, however, had been his saving grace, along with his aunt Peg. The three had took him in, loved him for who he was, and laid down roots that he’d later patch back in to. He didn’t know what the upcoming summer would bring, but he was hellbent on keeping his grandmother’s final wish - to rebuild her once adored garden.

He finds himself overrun with various emotions upon his return. Soon he discovers that the town he despised has really missed him, that his high school crush has returned to be the chief of police and only has eyes for him.

This book was incredibly written. At first, I began to feel as if Calmes spent too much time focusing on Kanaan’s ire for Braxton and his family. His past was rehashed over and over again throughout the book. But, her meaning for doing so plays out brilliantly in the end. Boudreaux did a wonderful job with narration. I learned many valuable life lessons while reading this book, and believe it to be an awe inspiring blueprint for learning how to forgive, heal, and hope. You just have to stand in place!

TJ Klune never ceases to amaze me! Just when I think his previous books in the Green Creek series couldn’t be bested, TJ writes Heartsong. The story of Robbie, his integration into the Bennett pack, and realizing just what he went through takes you on an emotional roller coaster. I thought TJ did a brilliant job tying the future to the past - leaving a huge gap that is to be filled with turmoil, loss, emotion, and enduring love.

Ox is the ever-present, steadfast, and vigilant alpha of the omegas, while Joe patiently leads alongside him with his father’s compassion and grace. Klune definitely has left us hanging, however. No, I’ll not be the spoiler here - but, Carter has his work cut out for him if he’s to find ‘the one’ who completes him. How will the rest of the pack cope in his absence? Surely, the next book will find the Bennett pack reunited, with hearts mended and pride restored.

I laughed, cried, and lost a ton of sleep staying up late listening to Heartsong. Lastly, Kirk Graves did another superb job narrating. I love his soothing voice, his ability to navigate through so many characters, and how he seems to become each one with ease. I can’t wait to listen to the next in this series!

Just when I thought Roan Parrish couldn’t outdo her previous work, I read “Where We Left Off.” This book hit home on many fronts for me - especially because my first love had come after moving off to college and meeting a special man who I’d learn later was actually the CFO of the hospital I worked at during nursing school. The hurdles Leo had to jump (mentally) to see Will as he really was, and just how he communicated his affection was painstaking but enduring. Leo held on to his heart’s desire - Will. But he had to learn that letting go could mean a new start - one with Will.

I enjoyed Spencer Goss as the narrator, but again feel as if Will’s character could have been brought into play that it would have provided for a unique glimpse into his own true emotions. Nonetheless, Parrish (in my opinion) opted for one narrator as a means to an end - one where in the end, the reader could capture just how fragile Will really was. His life growing up had molded him into an inner prison - where no one had really ever been allowed to visit, let alone frequent. Leo, in all his youthful vitality and romantic optimism, found the key inside Will’s prison and set him free. Parrish’s works have me salivating for her next book. She is profoundly talented, an artist, and she paints through words. Well done!

Truly, ‘there is no word’ to describe just how brilliant book two of this series is. Parrish is a awe-inspiring author that can write with ease. I didn’t think she could outdo “In the Middle of Somewhere,” but she did. Goss brought each character to life - yet I still feel as if Rafe’s character could have been better illustrated by a second narrator. Nonetheless, this book was tough, meaty, full of real-world problems, and it was no disappointment. It will make you cry, laugh, and even ponder just how cruel life really is for many of LGBTQ youth. Props to Parrish for shedding a light upon the many challenges faced by the community - especially when it deals with coming out and facing your biggest fears.

I can’t summate just how much this book meant to me. Words as praise won’t justify how brilliantly this book was written. Rex and Daniel are both “too good to be true,” but they are a perfect fit for each other. There imperfections are what the other man feeds from. Robert Nieman is now my favorite narrator! He brought all characters to life. I thought I’d have debated how much there was a need for a second narrator - especially since Rex’s words/actions are so complicated to understand throughout the book. Parrish surely knows how to depict the perfect ‘forever couple’ and does a beautiful job illustrating each one’s past. This book is loaded with many turns and twists. It will, at times, keep you dying to learn what happens next - the most enduring being the fact that Rex and Daniel can’t live without the other’s love and affection. In the Middle of Somewhere is now on my top-five list of greatest books read. But the narration makes this book, as well. I doubt I’d have enjoyed it as much with most other narrators. Nieman just becomes the book - he is a natural. I’m sure you all will enjoy this as much as I did.

This first book is simply amazing! It brings me back to my own time at summer camp, and the same crush I had every year. HIM is well written, the narrators are both awesome (Hamilton is my all-time fav), and the storyline is flawless. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series!
