This is the 5th book I"ve listened to. Read well but, I find English Books heavy on language and accents...The never love affair between the partners is a frustrating dialogue driven problem. It's the side story of these novels and the private lives of these characters is a main theme....Short on clues and soap opera Ish.

A cockamamie story taking place in chicago...The story so made up it could never happen....If you've lived in Chicago the great lakes accent is unmistakable. This reader has a new york accent. Shows little interest in authenticity... Read in an anxious melancholy style...I can't believe his books are so popular. I won't try another....

John Sandford introduces the cold and dead Shot of Lucas Davenport's adopted daughter Letti. The plot revolves around a right wing militia which is planning on blowing up a bridge over the Rio Grand to stop a Caravan of innocent migrants from crossing illegally into the US. Letti is working for a beaurocrat in Washington DC and ultimately a republican Senator who send her armed to the border to investigate strange happenings amongst oil thieves. She and her partner slowly uncover the plot. Letti shoots and kills a few people along the way.and ultimately saves a bus load of innocent moms and children caught in the explosion. She gets the license tag numbers of many of the participants and they will be rounded up just like they did with the "rioters" from Jan 6. This story and comparison were created to please a left wing narrative. The leader of the Militia, a woman, escapes calls Letti and lets her know that she'll be gunning for her and Letti says bring it on. We are probably going to get more of Letti vs. the right wing fascits. I won't be listening
