Historia
In Hunt, Gather, Parent, Doucleff sets out with her three-year-old daughter in tow to learn and practice parenting strategies from families in three of the world’s most venerable communities: Maya families in Mexico, Inuit families above the Arctic Circle, and Hadzabe families in Tanzania. She sees that these cultures don’t have the same problems with children that Western parents do.

life changing!
Revisado: 02-21-22
This is one of the best books I've ever read (or listened to). I really appreciate all the wisdom from the other cultures. Good parenting wasn't passed down in my family so I really needed this wisdom as i struggle with a toddler. I especially appreciate that she breaks down the lessons into actions at the end of each chapter. This made it so much easier for me to go back and take notes so I could hang those lessons up on my wall for reminders. Her voice was pleasant to listen to as well and I could hear her passion through her words. This book is seriously life changing to my parenting and I hope I can implement it all. I know I won't be perfect, but it'll definitely be progress. I can already see fewer tantrums in my toddler just by ignoring his misbehavior and letting him hang out with me while I cook. If you're considering getting this book; do it! Especially if you have a toddler! There is so much wisdom in this book that you will learn something useful. I've read many parenting books but this was the most concise and practical one I've ever read. Thank you Michaeleen!

Do you or someone you care about experience episodes of extreme and unpredictable anger? The first thing you need to know is that you are not alone. Researchers estimate that some seven percent of Americans may at some time experience a condition called intermittent explosive disorder (IED), which is characterized by reoccurring periods of extraordinary anger, and millions more have less frequent yet equally damaging experiences with rage. The second thing you need to know is that there is help.

Worth the listen
Revisado: 01-03-22
I'm not a fan of the narrator. I found his voice to be annoying. The content was good but I felt it was a very high overview and I got lost in it. A lot of things were repeated too many times and other things just skimmed over when I would've liked more depth. I do appreciate they suggested further reading material so I can dive deeper into some of the subjects. It's a complicated topic so I don't think they could've covered everything in depth in one book. It's a good place to start on the road to recovery though. I do recommend this book for those that struggle with this, but know it's just the start.

Historia
Love Junkie is the story of Rachel Resnick's dangerous addiction to sex and love. It's an addiction that has cost her in horrible ways throughout the course of her life - from the time she rear-ended a family van on the freeway because she was obsessively speed-dialing her lover's phone, to when she blew the deadline on her first major newspaper assignment. Love Junkie charts Rachel Resnick's harrowing emotional journey from addiction to intimacy, from despair to hope, and the men - the worst kind of men - who accompanied her on it.

Too much gory detail
Revisado: 03-20-21
As a fellow love junkie, I was hoping to hear how someone else was able to overcome and recover from their addiction. Instead, this came off as an erotica novel with way too much sexual detail. I was repulsed, intrigued, and triggered all at the same time. I think it could have been possible to still describe all of the emotions that love addiction brings without so much detail about the sexual encounters. There was very little discussion about her recovery, or how someone else may be able to find recovery. She is a really great writer. This just wasn't what I was hoping for. I was left with a lot of sadness at the end and not much hope for the writer...or myself.

Sex trafficking. We hear about it on the nightly news and in special interest stories from around the world, but it occurs daily in communities all around us. Every year, thousands of young women are forced into sexual exploitation. Most are under the age of 18. The damage this causes to their emotions and souls is immeasurable. But they are not without hope.

I enjoyed this
Revisado: 02-13-19
Caring for a young woman who has been through some sexual trauma and possible exploitation, I was really hoping for more things I can do to help in her recovery. However, I still found this book very intriguing and eye opening. The narration was well done and it was easy to stay interested. I know it wasn't meant to be a "how to" book but I did still glean a few tips, and most importantly I realized that I need to keep giving unselfish love no matter how many steps backward she takes. I do recommend this to anyone who works with sexually abused or exploited girls and women.

Historia
Whether you are trying to conceive naturally or through IVF, the quality of your eggs will have a powerful impact on how long it takes you to get pregnant and whether you face an increased risk of miscarriage. Poor egg quality is emerging as the single most important cause of age-related infertility, recurrent miscarriage, and failed IVF cycles. It is also a major contributor to infertility in PCOS.

Mostly about IVF
Revisado: 08-29-18
As others have said, the narrator was pretty difficult to listen to. I pushed through and finished the book, but it was hard. In addition, most of the information seemed to be centered on IVF patients. If I find that I have infertility then I may need this info but for now we are trying to conceive naturally so most of this info wasn't applicable for me.

Are You Hyperconnected... and Disconnected? The frenetic pace of modern life distracts us from a painful truth: we are disconnected. Disconnected from our DNA recipe, forged through the selection pressure of human evolution, to enjoy health, happiness, and peace of mind. Horns, office chatter, and whirring machines batter our ears with incessant noise. Artificial light and digital stimulation overstress our nervous systems day and night.

I've never had a negative reaction to a narrator until this audiobook. I almost quit after the first chapter but I wanted to hear the content so bad that I pushed through. I'm glad I did because it's a really good book! I just wish it was easier to listen to.

Historia
An effective and practical program based on the Paleo lifestyle, customized to fit your needs! As the Paleo movement sweeps the nation, the health benefits of following the lifestyle of our hunter-gatherer forebears are undeniable. But what happens when we hit a wall and weight loss stalls, energy flags, or we're tired of restricted eating? We're not cavemen anymore, so why should we follow a strict caveman diet? In Your Personal Paleo Code, Chris Kresser uses the Paleo diet as a baseline from which you can tailor the ideal three-step program - Reset, Rebuild, Revive - to fit your lifestyle, body type, genetic blueprint, and individual needs.

Historia
Decades before the American Revolution, Benjamin Franklin lamented that English settlers were constantly fleeing over to the Indians - but Indians almost never did the same. Tribal society has been exerting an almost gravitational pull on Westerners for hundreds of years, and the reason lies deep in our evolutionary past as a communal species. The most recent example of that attraction is combat veterans who come home to find themselves missing the incredibly intimate bonds of platoon life.
