Historia
Handsome anesthesiologist Neel is sure he can resist his family’s pleas that he marry a "good" Indian girl. With a girlfriend and a career back in San Francisco, the last thing Neel needs is an arranged marriage. But that’s precisely what he gets. His bride, Leila, a 30-year-old teacher, comes with her own complications. They struggle to reconcile their own desires with others’ expectations in this story of two people, two countries, and two ways of life that may be more compatible than they seem.

Historia
In layered prose and with thoughtful, accessible scholarship, Aslan narrates the history of religion as one long and remarkably cohesive attempt to understand the divine by giving it human traits and emotions. According to Aslan, this innate desire to humanize God is hardwired in our brains, making it a central feature of nearly every religious tradition. As Aslan writes, "Whether we are aware of it or not, and regardless if we are believers or not, what the vast majority of us think about when we think about God is a divine version of ourselves."

Historia
All the world is a puzzle, and Mike Brink—a celebrated and ingenious puzzle constructor—understands its patterns like no one else. Once a promising Midwestern football star, Brink was transformed by a traumatic brain injury that caused a rare medical condition: acquired savant syndrome. The injury left him with a mental superpower—he can solve puzzles in ways ordinary people can’t. But it also left him deeply isolated, unable to fully connect with other people.

Enjoyed the pace of the story. I thought the various genres intertwining supported the idea of puzzles and the science of puzzling. Fun read!!!

An Imperfect Shero!
Revisado: 05-14-23
At first I was shocked! But as I read along I started to see some of my own ‘crazy’, my own musings, my own insecurities and had the realization that we are all growing into our selves at different paces and ways but growing just the same. I love Alice even more now! Blessings to all on life’s journey and her!🥰

Historia
One evening in 1951, an itinerant storyteller arrives unannounced at a house in the Irish countryside. In exchange for a bed and a warm meal, he invites his hosts and their neighbors to join him by the wintry fireside and begins to tell formative stories of Ireland's history. Ronan, a nine-year-old boy, grows so entranced by the storytelling that, when the old man leaves abruptly under mysterious circumstances, the boy devotes himself to finding him again.

A Wonderful Masterpiece!
Revisado: 09-30-21
Wow! What a story! What a treat to hear the late Toni Morrison read her own work. I’ve read this book before and decided to read it again after many years. I read along with Toni’s narration. As I am a different person these years since the first read, the whole story is greater as I am wiser now. Love. We all need love!
