The narration is the worst. :(

Totally different vibe for ACOTAR series

It seems like there's been a struggle for the ACOTAR series narrator, but this one was pretty good.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I struggled with Nesta in the original series but I was eager to hear more about her story. I love Sarah's books and really was ready to dive back into this world. I was curious as the book progressed on what was happening with several different threads that she began to weave, as she does. I didn't want to put it down. I listened to it all day instead of doing things I should have been doing on a day off. I loved learning about Nesta, getting into her mind and seeing how and why she sees the world the way she does and is the way she is. I loved watching her grow and seeing her for who she is and how strong and how powerful she is. She is an amazing character in this story. I enjoyed the story, and I hope and expect that there will be more to come. That being said, please see my next paragraph.
The story was pretty dark, as Nesta is a pretty dark character. The gore was gorier, the despair and rage and grief was deeper and more raw, and the sex was more graphic and explicit. Ecerything just seemed much more adult in this book. I would definitely say this is not a YA book at all. this may put some people off, as this does not read like a fairy tale at all. this is definitely a story about self-discovery, a story of learning to love yourself. Sarah magically weaves in new female relationships because that's really where her strength shines, But for people expecting flowering language and sunshines and daisies and rosy language, you may want to go into this book with an open mind.

Another solidly good mystery in the series

what a terrible ending. was so invested in the story, and disappointed once again at this abrupt ending. I hope the next novel is better or I may be done with these. Steve West is a great performer though, he makes it worthwhile
