Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

My first Stephen King novel
Revisado: 04-23-24
This was referred to me by a friend and it took me a minute to get into but once I did, I was hooked. It is funny, sad, heartwarming, gross and full of action. I adore the main character Charlie and all the friends he meets on his journey. The narrator did a fabulous job. Definitely recommend!

I absolutely love this series and can't wait for the next book. I find myself not even caring about solving the mystery, I just want more dialogue! The narrator is divine and does an
amazing job with the characters.

Historia
When she fell asleep, the world was doomed. When she awoke, it was dead. In the wake of a fever that decimated the earth's population - killing women and children and making childbirth deadly for the mother and infant - the midwife must pick her way through the bones of the world she once knew to find her place in this dangerous new one. Gone are the pillars of civilization. All that remains is power - and the strong who possess it.

Good book, a little annoying
Revisado: 12-14-17
I liked this story. I liked that is was gritty and nothing sugar coated. The one thing was author uses “equals” throughout the book and it just grated on my nerves. It was overkill. This equals this. That equals that. I felt like we could have followed the midwife’s line of thinking in another way. Otherwise, good story. Narrator does a good job.
