Great Story!
Revisado: 07-15-23
Well written. Easy to understand and very compelling. This story is scary and will make you angry. On the other hand it is very inspirational and shows the great side of humanity. Worth the time to listen to!

Historia
In 1893, Liliuokalani, the Queen of Hawaii, was deposed and five years later her nation became an incorporated territory of the United States. Published shortly after these momentous events, her book Hawaii's Story by Hawaii's Queen is an incredibly personal history of the islands that she was born to rule. Liliuokalani covers from her birth in 1838 through the reigns of her forebears to her own turbulent time as Queen of the Hawaiian Islands.

Couldn’t Finish
Revisado: 07-12-23
I made it through six hours and kept waiting to learn about Hawaii. All I learned was about how royal she was. Maybe there was more about their history but I couldn’t make it. Based on what I listened to its easy to see why her brother was criticized for spending too much on pomp and circumstance. Take my review as one that is based on only part of the book and it could get better.

What a story. It makes you wonder what else we don’t know. It’s also interesting that Corso died of a “heart attack” about a year after he came forward with this information. Hmmm..,

Historia
From age 11, in 1974, until she left the show, in 1981, Melissa Anderson literally grew up before the viewers of Little House on the Prairie. Melissa, as Mary, is remembered by many as the blind sister - and she was the only actor in the series to be nominated for an Emmy. In The Way I See It, she takes listeners onto the set and inside the world of the iconic series created by Michael Landon, who, Melissa discovered, was not perfect, as much as he tried to be. In this memoir she also shares her memories of working with guest stars like Todd Bridges, Mariette Hartley, Sean Penn, Patricia Neal, and Johnny Cash.

This Was An Episode Recap
Revisado: 07-01-23
This was 85 percent episode recap and 15 percent behind the scenes insight. There were also these strange transitions from first to third person and some points that were written as though it was a movie script. I think this was Melissa writing a book because many of her cast members had done it. I’m not sure if I would recommend this book.

Interesting story bad narration
Revisado: 06-01-23
The story was great but the narrator had such a slow cadence that it was distracting. It took half the book before I could follow and understand what she said. I would have enjoyed the book much more with a different narrator.

Life isn’t always easy
Revisado: 05-29-23
I loved the series and enjoyed the book. I was disappointed that the author never seemed to thank anyone for who helped her or the programs she benefited from. She worked hard and overcame her situation, but she did it with the help or others and social programs. Stephanie it’s OK to say thank you.

Historia
His good friend Mark Twain dubbed him "St. Andrew." British Prime Minister William Gladstone called him an "example" for the wealthy. Such terms seldom apply to multimillionaires. But Andrew Carnegie was no run-of-the-mill steel magnate. At age 13 and full of dreams, he sailed from his native Dunfermline, Scotland, to America. Here, in one volume, are two impressive works by Andrew Carnegie himself: his autobiography and The Gospel of Wealth, a groundbreaking manifesto on the duty of the wealthy to give back to society all of their fortunes.

Historia
Will Rogers - pithy, political, and plainspoken - was one of the finest entertainers of his generation. As a great American humorist, it was considered an honor to be made fun of by him. By the time of his death in 1935, he had traveled the globe three times, written some four thousand articles, and was one of America's highest-paid film stars. He began his act in Vaudeville by saying, "All I know is what I read in the papers," while idly swinging a lasso he used for rope tricks.

Historia
They say that only truck drivers experience the true grandeur and landscape of America. In A Trucker's Tale, Ed Miller gives an inside look at the allure of the work and the colorful characters who haul our goods on the open road. He shares what it was like to grow up in a trucking family, his experience as an equipment officer in Vietnam, and the trials and tribulations of life as a trucker. His tales are often funny, sometimes sad, cringeworthy, or unbelievable. Many are the results of what he calls "just plain stupidity."
