The storyline, the antagonists, the sound quality. Hooked from the very first minute. Definitely the best season so far, seeing how the vampires have been living out the apocalypse in humanity's place

This was probably the slowest of the Joe Talbert books I've read. I mostly finished it because I loved Joe Talbert so much in the first place. It was interesting seeing things from Lyla's perspective, although I have to say it was pretty slow until the last 1/4 to 1/3, but I was still ready for it to end. I also don't typically love multiple viewpoints in general, and especially when characters are overlapping and the accents don't synch up. It did feel like a good way to end the series, and although there are more books in the same world, having them all be part of the Joe Talbert series without actually having anything to do with Joe Talbert was confusing.

Cute, easy read. Adventurous and fantastic. It's interesting to see dinosaurs done from a different point of view in a world so culturally influenced by Jurassic Park. From the cover art, I had the impression going in that it was a children's novel, and while I still felt the childlike wonder, it is not a children's novel. There are several ambiguous, adult references throughout.

This is one of the most heart-wrenching, and heart warming books I've read in a long time. The characters grow and change through the story, battling regrets, loss, fear, loneliness. There's suspense in the big bad secret Helena holds regarding her dead husband and missing child, the grief she battles through and how it's manifested in her life. This cold, seemingly heartless but successful author with her quirks and demanding lists, is imperfect in a way that makes you waffle between feeling for her and also kind of disliking her while also having a definite affection for her. It's a feat most authors, in my opinion, struggle to achieve. Their characters either too perfect, or too evil, and not many right in the middle.

I completely devoured this book. The twists and turns of this case were incredible and unbelievable. The amount of harm and selfish acts this mother put the rest of her family through, seemingly out of the blue and for no reason that anyone can understand was heartbreaking, and terrifying. The fact that this journalist and lawyer came together and were able to really put the focus on to this case that needed to be put forth without exploiting the family was incredible and meaningful. You can just tell that between these two authors they were affected by this case as much as those involved in it. And in some cases they actually did get pulled into it more than you would expect and even at some point put their own lives at risk for these children.

This episode was only 14m long unlike the others and sounded like you come in the middle of the story. Not sure is this is a mistake or a problem on my device along but it was very misleading

This book beautifully touched on multiple adult themes from the eyes of a naive child that not only made you feel for him and the realities that he and his family had to face but makes you reminisce on your own childhood and the loss of innocence adulthood brings. I will be buying a hard copy of this book to live on my own mantelpiece
