Historia
September. A beautiful New York editor retreats to a lonely cabin on a hill in the quiet Maine beach town of Dead River - off season - awaiting her sister and friends. Nearby, a savage human family with a taste for flesh lurks in the darkening woods, watching, waiting for the moon to rise and night to fall.

Slow burn atmospheric horror, worst narration ever
Revisado: 07-17-24
Possibly the worst narrator I've ever heard. Halfway through the story I bought the book just to make it stop.

Amazing story / Narrator not for everyone
Revisado: 07-10-17
Any additional comments?
It's a great story in a fully realized world. The pacing slows down a bit in places, but I was OK with this. It starts strong, and I actually enjoy a lot of the world building and scene setting. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book.
The narrator was problematic. I found the performance to be overacted. Whenever the voice actor did an accent it was painful to listen to and didn't really make sense either.

Everyone wants to be a writer, and they want to know what they can do to make that dream come true. However, most aspiring writers do not understand how to position themselves so they are ready when presented with an opportunity. They identify themselves as writers but have no writing samples, or their websites and social media talk all about their paintings or music but say nothing of who they are as writers.

Insightful look at different paths in writing
Revisado: 09-16-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I think I'd recommend this book to any of my writer friends. It gives an inside look into creative writing careers most people (or at least I) don't know all that much about - video games and screen writing.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
No. The narration was not great. It made it difficult to listen to in long chunks.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I found it very inspiring. While the author gives a lot of insight into markets for different writing and the business side of things, he also seems to be a big believer in writing for writing's sake. Or at least in the internal rewards of creative endeavors. It's definitely an upbeat book that makes you feel positive after listening.
Any additional comments?
If you're curious about screenwriting or video game writing definitely check it out. They're whole worlds I was unaware of. Also if you enjoy interviews check it out. The book benefits from having a lot of different voices and perspectives via several interviews throughout.
