Historia
The chemistry between Oxford University students Evelyn Lakewood and Jared Calmburry was immediate. After uncovering their shared and magical legacy - that they are the sole descendants of Merlin and the Lady of the Lake - their connection seems fated. rather formulaic fantasy: always a new "ancient" magic being touted as explanation for a plot twist.
Revisado: 05-02-25
love scenes unrealistic. sex over the top wonderful. rather plastic and phony sounding. plot involved but again dependent on "magic" to explain variations and difficulties. became boring. listened just to get to the end. didnt want to waste my money but alas i did!

Endless descriptions of sexual abuse of young boys
Revisado: 08-17-19
Finally had enough. The sexual predator just wasn't believable. I did start to become interested in the characters but not enough to stomach the rest. Beware.

Historia
America, says Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Chris Hedges, is convulsed by an array of pathologies that have arisen out of profound hopelessness, a bitter despair and a civil society that has ceased to function. The opioid crisis, the retreat into gambling to cope with economic distress, the pornification of culture, the rise of magical thinking, the celebration of sadism, hate, and plagues of suicides are the physical manifestations of a society that is being ravaged by corporate pillage and a failed democracy. All these ills presage a frightening reconfiguration of the nation and the planet.

Historia
Ambrose Young was beautiful. He was tall and muscular, with hair that touched his shoulders and eyes that burned right through you. The kind of beautiful that graced the covers of romance novels, and Fern Taylor would know. She'd been reading them since she was 13. But maybe because he was so beautiful he was never someone Fern thought she could have...until he wasn't beautiful anymore.

The worst listen in a long time
Revisado: 09-07-18
Can't believe anyone could waste their time listening to this. No depth to the characters; very predictable story. Not at all realistic. Is is because of the Christian theme? Absolute drivel. The only person who could enjoy this is a brainwashed far right christian. Is this really how they see the world? War is glorified; never questioned; Sadam Hussein did not cause 9-11; that was known. Never did any character question the gung ho war attitude; it was glorified. And the most annoying thing is that the main character consistently valued herself based on her acceptance by men! Her goal in life was to marry well! We are not in 1950. Finally she could be with the man of her choice once his appearance was damaged; as if only then the relationship would be acceptable to the weird reality posited in this book. There are many options open to women; especially regarding pregnancy. The only reason I kept listening was hoping it would improve; it did not. Left me feeling slimy.

Historia
Amos Decker's life changed forever - twice. The first time was on the gridiron. A big, towering athlete, he was the only person from his hometown of Burlington ever to go pro. But his career ended before it had a chance to begin. On his very first play, a violent helmet-to-helmet collision knocked him off the field for good and left him with an improbable side effect - he can never forget anything.

Not very good
Revisado: 05-01-18
Terrible sound. Its as though sections were recorded separately. When they were put together you could hear sudden changes in pitch. Disconcerting. Story line predictable. Kept reinforcing rape and sodomy. Same with many other gory descriptions. Seemed like for the shock value. Then sudden bursts of music! What was that about! The female narrator made every person sound the same. Overall poorly done. Not well written. Not sure why I listened to the end. Likely just to get rid of it! That said, it did draw the listener in to some extent. Not a total waste of time but close!

Historia
Ex-military policeman Jack Reacher is a drifter. He’s just passing through Margrave, Georgia, and in less than an hour, he’s arrested for murder. Not much of a welcome. All Reacher knows is that he didn’t kill anybody. At least not here. Not lately. But he doesn’t stand a chance of convincing anyone. Not in Margrave, Georgia. Not a chance in hell.

Well worth the read
Revisado: 11-13-17
Lee Child has such a way with a story! Very violent but funny too; and Reacher is soo tough but so compassionate; he's like a therapist with a punch! Great story, this one. I love how Lee Child goes into such detail; he really gets it. The narrator; he is very good but I have to agree with another reviewer; he sounds like he is 80! Voice sometimes loses a syllable as happens with older folks. But I can handle that because he is a good narrator; the different accents; you are never at a loss who is speaking. Highly recommended.

Very annoying voices from the narrator. Stupid plot; not at all believable. And a lot of behind the scenes political views being voiced. Can't believe these novels are popular. Is it just because this takes place in California? Yuch!!
