Historia
The Age of Light tells the story of Vogue-model-turned-renowned-photographer Lee Miller, and her search to forge a new identity as an artist after a life spent as a muse. She arrives in Paris in 1929, where she soon catches the eye of the famous Surrealist Man Ray. Though he wants to use her only as a model, Lee convinces him to take her on as his assistant. But Man Ray turns out to be an egotistical, charismatic force, and as they work together in the darkroom, their personal and professional lives become intimately entwined, changing the course of Lee's life forever.

I would give this book more than 5 stars. The story and performance are just so engaging that I couldn't wait to see what happened. I listened to it in record time (for me). Well done!!

Historia
Emery Blackwood’s life changed forever the night her best friend was found dead and the love of her life, August Salt, was accused of murdering her. Years later, she is doing what her teenage self swore she never would: living a quiet existence on the misty, remote shores of Saoirse Island and running the family’s business, Blackwood’s Tea Shoppe Herbal Tonics & Tea Leaf Readings. But when the island, rooted in folklore and magic, begins to show signs of strange happenings, Emery knows that something is coming.

Beautiful writing!
Revisado: 08-20-24
I enjoyed the lyrical sense of writing in this book. It gave me a strong sense of atmosphere of the island. Beautiful ending. The narrator for Emery has a lovely voice. Refreshingly good audiobook!

Historia
No one other than Warren Zanes, rocker and writer and friend, could author a book about Tom Petty that is as honest and evocative of Petty's music and the remarkable rock and roll history he and his band helped to write. Born in Gainesville, Florida, with more than a little hillbilly in his blood, Tom Petty was a Southern shit kicker, a kid without a whole lot of promise. Rock and roll made it otherwise.

Great Read!
Revisado: 06-25-24
I love biographies of singers and musicians, especially rock stars. This is a great addition to those I have read. I read anything about Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac that I can find (oh, the drama and the music!), so I knew a bit about Stevie's friendship with Tom Petty. I enjoyed hearing about his side of the story as well. I didn't know much about Petty since he kept his private life out of the limelight as much as possible. But I consider him to be one of the best. He sincerely seemed to care about people, besides being very talented. Great career, and great job on this book!

Historia
With indifferent parents, Iona Sheehan grew up craving devotion and acceptance. From her maternal grandmother, she learned where to find both: a land of lush forests, dazzling lakes, and centuries-old legends. Ireland. County Mayo, to be exact. Where her ancestors’ blood and magic have flowed through generations - and where her destiny awaits. Iona arrives in Ireland with nothing but her Nan’s directions, an unfailingly optimistic attitude, and an innate talent with horses.

Nora Roberts always delivers!
Revisado: 06-09-24
Among the many things I appreciate about Nora Roberts is that she writes complete love stories within each book of her trilogies. No abrupt unfinished endings like some other trilogy authors do. Nora delivers what we romance readers want: smart, sexy, emotionally developed characters; the right amount of spice (for me); passion and humor. I can read each book as a satisfying stand alone, but her books are so fun that I want more! The magic is also so well done in "Dark Witch". Highly recommend!!

Wow, to say that I love this book is an understatement! What a magnificent love story. Using the rare second person narration for the entire book is extremely powerful. Everything about this story is a perfect combination of heart and craft. Best book I've read in a long time!

Disappointing
Revisado: 06-01-24
I'm sorry to say that I was bored from the outset. The first chapter took so long to get to the hook. Should have started with that and woven in backstory with suspense. Stopped at second chapter. Maybe it got better but I have too many books to read and listen to. A book needs to hook me in the first chapter. Too bad because the story sounded so interesting.

Beautiful writing; narration too soft
Revisado: 05-01-24
I enjoyed this book overall. Excellent writing; some passages are especially memorable and beautiful. I found the soft, almost whispered narration to be irritating at times and too slow at others. Still a worthy listen.

Great Beginning, Unsatisfying Ending
Revisado: 01-13-24
I can't remember why I chose this book. It must have been one of those two-for-one credit deals. Normally I read horror and fantasy romance. I guess I thought from the blurb that it would be about the romance between David and Sarah. And the first half was, which was great. I couldn't get enough. Then the story went into a sideways direction about a character that I couldn't care less about. I wish the story of David and Sarah had an emotional resolution, even if it wasn't a happy ending. Great performances by the audio book narrators. They kept me listening so that I could at least finish the book.
