Historia
Megan Keeler died years ago - or so everyone believes. In fact, she disappeared to escape from her sadistic husband, Glenn. When dismembered body parts were found near their home, Glenn was convicted of his wife's murder. And Megan, terrified for her unborn child's safety, never came forward with the truth.... Since then, Megan has built a new life in Seattle for herself and her son, Josh. She's never forgotten that she's a fugitive, and Josh knows nothing about her past. But someone does. There are anonymous emails and threats, just as she learns Glenn has been released from prison.

Historia
Leigh Collier has worked hard to build what looks like a normal life. She has a good job as a defense attorney, a daughter doing well in school, and even her divorce is relatively civilized - her life is just as unremarkable as she’d always hoped it would be. But Leigh’s ordinary life masks a childhood that was far from average...a childhood tarnished by secrets, broken by betrayal, and finally torn apart by a devastating act of violence.

Manual for how to use drugs/political nonsense
Revisado: 04-01-24
If you ever want to know how drugs make you feel or a step by step guide on how to use them, especially heroin, this book is for you. very repetitive - repeating over and over what happened like we didn't hear it the first 20 times. and the FMC has rocks for brains. As a lawyer, I would think somebody would have a little common sense instead of doing all the stupid things she did. I skipped through several chapters just to get to the end which was a total let down after suffering through this mess for over 18 hours. a stupid story with covid intertwined because apparently it was written at the beginning of the pandemic.
the authors note at the end was what sinched my decision to never buy another Karen Slaughter book. I know people have different opinions but keep them to yourself. I just spent money on your book, which IMO, just because you wrote it at the beginning of the pandemic, doesn't mean you had to include it as part of the story and then in your notes we got a whole lesson about how antivaxxers are the problem and then all the talk about the "violent riot" at the capital on Jan. 6.
No thanks, never again will this author get another penny from me.

Historia
Meghan, Brecia, and Skye have just one thing in common. They were all murdered by the same man. He hunted them online, masquerading as an eligible bachelor. Then he played the perfect gentleman, a thick layer of charm and a thousand-watt smile hiding the fact that his first dates end in shallow graves. He’s gotten away with murder three times now. The only thing that might keep him from killing again? The women he murdered. Meghan, Brecia, and Skye might be dead, but they’re not gone. They’ve found each other. And they won’t rest until they find a way to stop him. The haunt is on.

15 hours of my life i'll never get back
Revisado: 08-15-23
oh Joe. Joe. Joe. Joe. Just no. I love Joe Arden. He is in my top 5 favorite narrators, but this was his narration in this book made want to stuff my ears with cotton balls. I get that he was playing the part but he just sounded like he was crying the whole time. Super annoying - nails on a chalkboard annoying. if you are thinking about getting this book, listen to the sample first to make sure you can handle the narration.
i don't have any triggers, so that is not why i am giving a 1 star review on this. The story was just dumb and way too long. A lot of blah blah blah.
This is the last time I buy a book based off of a booktok recommendation. I have got to stop listening to those idiots.
I will say - if you liked haunting adeline/hunting adeline - you will probably like this book. I did not like those books for the same reason.

Historia
When I was 17, I disappeared. I walked out the door of my apartment with a backpack and never looked back. I left the life of Cora Mitchell behind, seeking freedom from my real-life nightmare. But my freedom came with a cost. I lived a fictitious life for the next six years, never letting anyone close enough to see underneath the façade that was Andra Walker. I was content with my simple little life. Until I met Julian.

Thankfully this was free
Revisado: 07-12-23
I DNF'd this book at chapter 16. Its so ridiculous to think that a person that was sa'd, fled and went into hiding would so willingly go back to where it all happened, no questions asked. Her "brother/cousin" or whoever Six is in relation to Audra, should be ashamed for dragging her back to Michigan without even telling her why he was making her go back there. At chapter 16 is where this story went off the rails for me. the first 16 chapters were A LOT of blah blah blah about things that did nothing to move the plot forward. Thankfully this was free in the plus catalog, so I didn't waste any money or credits.
Erin Spencer did a great job narrating. I'm pretty sure she read under another name, but I can't pinpoint what name.

Men suck. They break you. Leave you. Take everything until there's nothing left. And frankly, I'm done allowing them to make me feel insignificant. So, forget men. I'll just throw myself into my job, because at least that never fails me. Jackson has other plans, though. I refuse to be impressed by his perfect body, the cute dimple on his cheek, or the rugged stubble on his face. Jackson Cole can be resisted. But, I'm only fooling myself. He's going to wear me down. I can feel it. In the end he'll prove that once again, I'm no one's beloved.

Alot of whining and blah blah blah
Revisado: 07-06-23
The main character has issues. Therapy would have been a better fit rather than a new boyfriend. We've all had our hearts broken, but this woman is mental about it. And HELLO! if you want your ex to "stop invading your life" learn how to block his number instead of whining every time he calls or texts THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE BOOK! I would have done that in the first chapter! and for crying out loud, stand up for yourself! the back and forth, back and forth, JUST MAKE A DECISION ALREADY! Jackson can do better. I managed to finish this book, but I will not be continuing the series.
Andi Arndt did an amazing job, but even a great narrator can't save a bad story.

Historia
From New York Times best-selling author Stephen Graham Jones comes a novel that is equal parts psychological horror and cutting social commentary on identity politics and the American-Indian experience. Fans of Jordan Peele and Tommy Orange will love this story as it follows the lives of four American-Indian men and their families, all haunted by a disturbing, deadly event that took place in their youth. Years later, they find themselves tracked by an entity bent on revenge, totally helpless as the culture and traditions they left behind catch up to them in a vengeful way.

Don't understand the hype
Revisado: 04-11-23
I found this book when I was looking for a good, scary story and it came up on multiple lists in the top 10 of the genre. I don't get it. I didn't think it was scary, or eerie at all. The story starts with one persons perspective then halfway through switches to somebody else then switches to someone else after that. It was pretty confusing. the narrators voice was irritating. All in all, I wish I hadn't wasted a credit.

Glad it was free
Revisado: 04-05-23
I DNF'd this book it was so bad. I don't understand how a mother can be so concerned and unconcerned at the same time about the fact that there is a serial child kidnapper kidnapping kids that look just like her daughter. one second, she's talking about how she has to keep her daughter safe then sees her daughter riding her bike down Main Street by herself and instead of throwing her bike in the back of her truck and taking the girl home, just lets her ride off on her bike all alone. I'm glad this book was free through the plus catalog so I didn't lose a credit or money.
The narrator was new to me and I think she did ok. Not my favorite but also not the worst.
