Intricately woven story/Trauma trigger warning

The story kept me engaged, and thinking and trying to figure out who is who and what is what. Which isn’t a bad thing.
I didn’t find it predictable.
The conflict and trauma inflicted on the characters was written so well that I found I had to arrow ahead 30 seconds as it felt too intense and I have no history of emotional abuse. It’s so expertly written that it may trigger discomfort for those who have suffered emotional abuse /manipulation
Narration was very good. Subtle voice changes were enough to demonstrate it was a different person, but close enough to keep you wondering how all the characters fit together

She's been trying to put the crime out of her mind; what could she have done, really? It's a dangerous road to be on in the middle of a storm. Her husband would be furious if he knew she'd broken her promise not to take that shortcut home. And she probably would only have been hurt herself if she'd stopped.

Enjoyed the read but figured out the story very quickly. That said it dragged for me in the middle until things were revealed. In my own mind I would ask myself I wonder if every person who reads it figures it out as quickly as i did

The narrator is awful

I was expecting more from the story. It's a delightful easy story but lacks the depth of the Orphan train. Not sure I will read any of her other books now
The narrator is terrible. I couldn't get past her improper pronunciation of the TT sound think mitten her pronunciation? mih-en Even some single Ts - Latin - La-in she mispronounced. Even espresso! She said expresso. It's a regional pronunciation so I looked up thinking she was an amateur but she has an MFA and has narrated 80 audio books. Unfortunately for me it took me out of the story with every mispronounced word. Probably won't bother others
