Not as good as the first, better than the second.

Okay let's do this in two sections. The good and the bad.

The Good
Charles Rosenberg is a very good writer. The dialog is good, the characters over the three books they've been together behave consistently, and the detail of the legal parts of the stories are always there. I like that.

The story here is good, you don't really get a feel for the whole arc until the very end.

There's enough thrills and spills to make it entertaining, but it's not over the top and hamhanded.

The explanation of the money laundering scheme was really interesting, as was the reveal of the big crime at the end. I liked that.

The Bad
This one felt a little "caperish." Like a heist movie in Paris without the big heist.

Aside from the three main characters (Oscar, Robert, and Jenna) the rest of the characters are as much caricatures as they are characters.

It's a bit too cloak and dagger for my tastes, at least for a legal thriller.

Robert can be insufferable ;)

Conclusion
The first book was really good, the second was meh, and this one was really good although a bit divergent from the first two. I do hope for more in the series and I also hope that Rosenberg, whose work I'm growing to enjoy, really does recapture the "secret sauce" of the first one at some point.

After putting this book down for a very long time, I picked it up again and I'm really glad I did.

One thing Scott Sigler does better than anyone else is put that knot in your stomach. That sinking feeling that "it isn't going to work out." That we're doomed. That bad things happen. That even main characters are expendable at all times.

This book starts out really slow and uncomfortable, which was why I put it down, but when you get into the story you realize how important those first few chapters are to the story. Without giving too much away, you spend most of this book going "Jesus Christ, how are they going to get out of this one?" Or "Oh my God, humanity is doomed." The lightbulb moments when scientists make progress make you go "Oh my God! We have hope!" You really feel invested in the whole story.

I loved this book way more than I thought I would initially. It might be my favorite in the series, the entirety of which is absolutely 100% worth reading if you haven't already.

Also worthy of note: That this is more "produced" than a typical audiobook made it so much more fun. I'm just wondering why if they were going to put all that effort into voices and modulating them, why not have a woman read the female parts?

Other than that, this one is a must-read and a must-listen!

I was very excited to see a new book in this series and this one didn't disappoint. Not so sure Dilts is the right narrator but other than that I loved it.

If you find yourself debating economics with leftists and socialists then you need this book. It very nicely summarizes some common socialist myths, provides counter examples, and lays out a case for why socialism always fails no matter how varied its implementation.

If something bills itself as a cyber-thriller, it had better have a lot of cyber and a lot of thrills. This book literally had very little of both, and the silly technical jargon was so obviously fake it was painful.

Imagine if you will being promised dinner at an amazing Italian restaurant. You sit at a table, you recline back at the red-checkered table cloth and you order a pasta dish. When it comes out, after all the promises, you literally get a bowl of Spaghetti-O's.

Now Spaghetti-O's in and of themselves aren't bad, but when you're expecting great pasta and that's what you get, it's horrible.

The writing is mediocre in every way, and if I had to hear one more time about how stunned Sergio is I would shoot myself to end the stunning. His synapses were constantly firing, scrambled, or whatever else. In fact, most of the words in this book are overly-descriptive nonsense.

This is not a good one. Pass. Move on. If you're looking to kill time, maybe it's good for that.

And that's a big maybe.

I don't give out 5-star reviews without great consideration. This book earned it. It's huge. Trying to summarize what I like about it would be nearly impossible, but in a nutshell what made it great was that King took his time with it. It never felt rushed or forced and the story, while at times over-developed, was riveting.

And the narration? Top shelf. No wonder King picked Wasson. Aside from the clearly "on different days" nature of some of the book (you can hear Wasson's tone of voice change) he is a flawless narrator. I never got tired of his voice telling the story.

You need to partake in this book. Just do it.

This book is so interesting because it's the strange and interesting details about space travel that we've never considered. Excellent book, really well written and really funny at times. I enjoyed it start to finish.

Ayn Rand's books are not supposed to be manuals, but they seem to more and more be exactly that.

Preaching the danger of collectivism using an extreme society in which the very mention of the word "I" is verboten, it's hard not to draw a parallel to the "modern" world in which living for yourself is taboo, but living for others is a venerated position. The message is clear: reject collectivism. Reject self-immolation. Reject it all.

You own yourself and the products of your labor and what you do with yourself and the product of your labor is your decision to be made freely by you.

It's a beautiful message and one that needs to be taken to heart, particularly today.

Cuckservative: How "Conservatives" Betrayed America Audiolibro Por Vox Day, John Red Eagle arte de portada

If you know anything about Vox Day, you know what direction this book took. No point in really going into great detail about it, aside from saying he makes a strong case that conservatives have created the mess they're in right now and gave rise to the Trump era.

But holy crap, Thomas Landon...

1. Open your mouth, dude. Speak with a voice. That NPR Whisper thing you're doing. Stop it. STOP IT.

2. Learn the names of the people you're talking about. Mispronunciations abound, including "Ann Rand" "Luhdwig von Mices" "Fredrick Hey-yak." Unacceptable. And yes, it's a high standard. But this isn't a podcast, it's an audiobook. You have to get that stuff right.

3. The volume levels and equalization bounce around throughout the book. Some sections are boomy, some aren't. Clearly this book was done on multiple days without regard for the audio quality or making it seem like it was all done on the same day.

Not the best audiobook I've gotten from Audible, but I'm perfectly happy with the overall book and it's just the production part that was a huge let down.

If someone wants to know why the Liberty movement is something they should be involved in and what it all means, start them with this book. It'll give them a great foundation.
