Historia
As a kid, Aomawa Shields was always bumping into things, her neck craned up at the sky, dreaming of becoming an astronaut. A year into an astrophysics PhD program, plagued by self-doubt and discouraged by a white male professor who suggested that she—a young Black woman who also loved fashion, makeup, and the arts—didn’t belong, she left astronomy and pursued acting professionally for a decade, before a day job working for NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope drew her back to the stars.

I could not stop!
Revisado: 07-17-23
Aomawa Shields has such a compelling story and captivating way of speaking. There is no real way, I think, to review an autobiographical story without spoiling or rehashing exactly what was written, but I will try to summarize a few key points that struck me. Dr. Shield’s descriptions of her journey to becoming the well respected scientist is succinct. Dr. Shields reads the book herself. I think any book read by the author is always welcome. You get the exact phrasing, emphasis and texture of tone the author was intending. It’s clear her lectures must have been captivating by the way she speaks. Any details about the discoveries and experiments Dr. Shield’s has worked on are fascinating and really making me want to learn more. I should almost hope to read (or listen in this case) a book similar to that of Harry Cliff’s How to Make an Apple Pie from Scratch, but Dr. Shield’s version being about the sum total knowledge of all we have learned regarding the field of Astro-biology.
Highly recommend to anyone and everyone! You won’t be able to put this down!

This is a tale of sorrow, a tale of survival, a tale of one man's search for meaning in his universe, and how that search, and the indomitable will that drove it, gave birth to a legend.

I can’t think of a single moment where I wasn’t wanting more! I HAD to see what was next! It was amazing, There was hardly a dry spell, when things slowed down in the story, there was purpose to it. The characters are all developed and you are eager to see what happens. I love this book and it’s author!

Historia
In July 2004, Barack Obama electrified the Democratic National Convention with an address that spoke to Americans across the political spectrum. Now, in The Audacity of Hope, Senator Obama calls for a different brand of politics: a politics for those weary of bitter partisanship and alienated by the "endless clash of armies" we see in Congress and on the campaign trail; a politics rooted in the faith, inclusiveness, and nobility of spirit at the heart of "our improbable experiment in democracy".

Great hearing it from the President himself.

Any additional comments?
It was written during his time as a congressmen, and it is done incredibly well. I disagree with him on certain things, but he is so well spoken, and well versed, not only Iowa, but American culture, than he completely owns me when he speaks. I would highly recommend this to anyone!
