Historia
On March 26, 2018, rescue workers discovered a crumpled SUV and the bodies of two women and several children at the bottom of a cliff beside the Pacific Coast Highway. Investigators soon concluded that the crash was a murder-suicide, but there was more to the story: Jennifer and Sarah Hart, it turned out, were a white married couple who had adopted the six Black children from two different Texas families in 2006 and 2008. Behind the family's loving facade, however, was a pattern of abuse and neglect that went ignored.

I like how the author presented facts surrounding each incident that occurred to get the children to the next phase of their lives. It was presented in such a manner that you are left to determine who was at fault.

Historia
In a future so real and near it might be now, something happens when women go to sleep: They become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze. If they are awakened, if the gauze wrapping their bodies is disturbed or violated, the women become feral and spectacularly violent; and while they sleep they go to another place.... The men of our world are abandoned, left to their increasingly primal devices. One woman, however, the mysterious Evie, is immune to the blessing or curse of the sleeping disease.

Boooooooring
Revisado: 12-01-20
This was awful. Definitely on the bottom of the SK spectrum. Owen King seems to be living off his dad's reputation. The narrator's caricaturist twang of every single southern person was distracting at best. The story was full of one dimensional characters who seemed to constantly be complaining about conservatives and Trump for no apparent reason. The story dragged on and on with very little development. Lots of unimportant and uninteresting details. Characters were so uninteresting I was unable to follow who was who and why I should care who they are. Not worth the read or the listen.

Historia
Victoria McQueen has an uncanny knack for finding things: a misplaced bracelet, a missing photograph, answers to unanswerable questions. When she rides her bicycle over the rickety old covered bridge in the woods near her house, she always emerges in the places she needs to be. Vic doesn't tell anyone about her unusual ability, because she knows no one will believe her. She has trouble understanding it herself.

Awful narration
Revisado: 07-14-19
Kate Mulgrew is definitely not someone I will ever listen to again read a novel. Her character voices were terrible, cliche, and even pretty racist at times. Every adolescent male sounded like a kid from Leave it to Beaver. There were several characters who were described as having a light indian accent who ended up sounding like tech support. And a character with red hair who sounded like he was protecting his lucky charms. The only characters that didn't drive me up the wall when she voiced them were the main two characters Vic McQueen and Charlie Manx.

This book hooked me on the series
Revisado: 11-13-17
I had already read The Gunslinger before this and while I was intrigued, I wouldn't say I had been really hooked by the story. I was interested in learning about what came next. After I got this book on audio, I was absolutely blown away at what a really good book, narrated by a first class talent, can do to turn a decent story into an immersive experience of the mind and imagination. The elements of fantasy which King uses to connect Roland's world to one I was familiar with as a reader was just too interesting to me not to hunger for more. Add to that the voice of Frank Muller, who as far as I'm concerned is the number one audiobook narrator that ever existed, and you are destined to have a great experience even if you hate the book itself. I'm not ashamed to admit that I've purchased audiobooks that I had zero interest in the book itself, just because it was narrated by Frank Muller.

The book was great but the audio quality is terrible. It sounds like someone found their old audio tapes after sitting in the trunk of their car and dubbed them to mp3.

Where does Catching Fire rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is an interesting twist on the first story but feels a little contrived. The first is still the best of the three.

What did you love best about Life after Life?
As a philosophical and a religious person I found this book very intriguing. I don't know what conclusions to draw on the validity of any of the claims made in the book, but I do believe that the experiences shared are believed to be real by those that shared them and they offer some very interesting insights into the hereafter.

Revisado: 06-04-13
What made the experience of listening to Into the Wild the most enjoyable?
I think everyone has at some point fantasized about leaving the world behind and going on the road. Becoming a drifter, or an explorer of urban america. This is a story about someone who actually did it. This is the perfect form of escapism.
