Historia
Everybody loves Ian Ludlow’s action novels—especially the CIA—because the spies know something the public doesn’t: His fictional plots have a frightening tendency to come true. Ian is in Hong Kong with his resourceful assistant Margo French to research his wildest story yet—a deadly global conspiracy by Chinese intelligence to topple the United States. What Ian doesn’t know is that his horrifying scenario is happening and that the Chinese mistakenly believe he’s an undercover superspy assigned to foil their scheme.

Historia
Michael Crichton, creator of Jurassic Park, ER, Twister, and Westworld, had a passion project he’d been pursuing for years, ahead of his untimely passing in 2008. Knowing how special it was, his wife, Sherri Crichton, held back his notes and the partial manuscript until she found the right author to complete it: James Patterson, the world’s most popular storyteller.

A sweeping story about obsession, mysticism, art and earthly desire. At the centre of this story is the Cathedral. Its design and construction in the 13th and 14th centuries in the fictional town of Hagenburg unites a vast array of unforgettable characters whose fortunes are inseparable from the shifting political factions and economic interests vying for supremacy. From the bishop to his treasurer, from local merchants to lowly stonecutters, the fate of everyone, both Gentile and Jew, is affected by the slow rise of Hagenburg’s cathedral.

Revisado: 04-21-24
I enjoyed the interaction of characters that built development of society through the 12th century. Reviews the most likely roles that the church and aristocratic strain of society played their roles to create early Europe.

The whole story followed the predictable story line. I read practically all her books and this was the same characters that were updated progression through life. No new plots or character development. This should have ended the series after book twenty.

Historia
Maps have a mysterious hold over us. Whether ancient, crumbling parchments or generated by Google, maps tell us things we want to know, not only about our current location or where we are going but about the world in general. And yet, when it comes to geo-politics, much of what we are told is generated by analysts and other experts who have neglected to refer to a map of the place in question.

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

not the best reading
Revisado: 01-07-23
The setting descriptions are tedious and drawnout. The style of the reader, in the beginning, is not natural. He reads the dialog with the same voice whether, female, young, tough guy, or Jack Reacher. The reader tries to duplicate previous readering styles and detracts from the story.

Historia
For eight weeks in 1945, as Berlin fell to the Russian army, a young woman kept a daily record of life in her apartment building and among its residents. The anonymous author depicts her fellow Berliners in all their humanity, as well as their cravenness, corrupted first by hunger and then by the Russians. A Woman in Berlin tells of the complex World War II relationship between civilians and an occupying army and the shameful indignities to which women in a conquered city are always subject—the mass rape suffered by all, regardless of age or infirmity.

Winner's revenge on the German people
Revisado: 01-02-23
The Russian treatment of the female civilian people was realistically described. A great aunt and a group of refugees sponsored by my voiced a similar account of their experiences with the Russians. The British and French were slow in providing food and medical services to the Berlin . The US was mainly responsible for providing food and shelter for the first winter in Berlin.
