Thrilling
Revisado: 02-15-24
I wish I could just start it all over again, I so enjoyed it. I think this time I will start at the beginning with the first book in the series. I randomly started listening out of order, which worked ok, but seems like I should have started with book one. Next time, since this is good enough to do all over again, Just great.

Historia
To all appearances, Dan Chase is a harmless retiree in Vermont with two big mutts and a grown daughter he keeps in touch with by phone. But most 60-year-old widowers don't have multiple driver's licenses, savings stockpiled in banks across the country, and a bugout kit with two Beretta Nanos stashed in the spare bedroom closet. Most have not spent decades on the run.

I am so glad I ignored all the bad reviews. This was a great listen. This was as good as Butchers Boy. Drove 10 hours listening to it and wished there had been a little more traffic so I could finish in one trip. I cannot figure out why people didn't like it. It was a 'page turner'.

This was a thrilling story with plenty of twists. I enjoyed the story and the reader was excellent. I woukd recommend this story to anyone who enjoys action, crime, suspense, this had it all. made a long drive seem short. I also ignored all incoming calls, not wanting to disrupt the action.

Historia
Powerfully plotted and funny, Big Fish follows dangerous and mysterious Los Angeles entrepreneur Altmeyer, and his wife Rachel, whose quiet lives in the Hollywood hills are disrupted when a multi-million-dollar gunrunning deal goes bad. Under most circumstances, Altmeyer might be mildly amused by the audacity of the double-cross. But whoever cheated Altmeyer may also be planning to destroy the world. With so much at stake, Altmeyer and Rachel and their friend, super-agent to the stars Bucky Carmichael, set off on a perilous adventure in search of the identity of the Big Fish.

OK, but not much more
Revisado: 03-01-23
This was not the best, not the worst, but could be skipped. The reader has a really raspy voice which is alright for some of the characters and he did a fine job, it was just a little scratchy for me, luckily it's a relatively short book so I managed to finish it. If this was a 10 hour book, I probably would have given up at 2 hours.

So Good! Another win
Revisado: 02-15-23
When you don't care that there's road construction and your commute has an extra hour, you know it's a good listen!
This is an excellent tale that starts off slow for character building and continues to intensify to a triumphal climax. It's believable enough, with Perry's excellent insight into the human condition and emotional range.
Perry saves my sanity on a daily basis while I weave my way through stop and go traffic, not caring who is trying to cut me off to be one car length further ahead. While all that BS is going on, I am serenely listening to people getting holes shot through their chest and having their heads blown off. As an unpretentious middle aged woman, no doubt I probably appear to be quietly listening to a gardening podcast while sipping chamomile tea. In reality I am waiting to see what gun the main character will choose for the situation at hand and cheering him on as he goes on a killing spree.
Michael Kramer is astounding as usual, perfectly creating the scene so it can be visualized without effort. His voices are all done so well and never detract from the listening experience. A true artist.

Great story, plenty of twists and turns to keep it interesting. You know a book is a good one when you don't mind being stuck in traffic longer than anticipated. The only thing was his pronunciation of Sepulveda Blvd. Obviously Mr. Kramer is not from California.

Historia
As always, Reacher has no particular place to go, and all the time in the world to get there. One morning, he ends up in a town near Pleasantville, Tennessee. But there’s nothing pleasant about the place. In broad daylight, Reacher spots a hapless soul walking into an ambush. “It was four against one” ...so Reacher intervenes, with his own trademark brand of conflict resolution. The man he saves is Rusty Rutherford, an unassuming IT manager, recently fired after a cyberattack locked up the town’s data, records, information...and secrets.

This is an Abridged version
Revisado: 09-19-22
I don't know if it was because it was abridged ( which I was unaware I bought that until the final credits), but it seemed to be lacking a bit in the story development. Ok we all know that this is sort of Fantasy Detective/Crime, but typically the stories are plausible for the set of questionable circumstances that have been laid out. I have a feeling the full version is better. Also the reader had almost the same voice in the beginning for several characters and it was hard to tell them apart. After a few hours they seem better developed and distinct. I rate this a B minus. I usually give his books an A.

Satisfying
Revisado: 07-16-22
Does not disappoint. What used to be called a page turner is now a mile burner for me. Exciting and insightful to the human mind. Perry creates believable characters and in my mind few gaping plot holes. Somehow his stories always seem plausible. Very dark stuff, but certainly entertaining. Makes me look forward to a long commute and no passengers please!
