So Much More Than Just A Thriller

Yes, this is definitely a mystery/thriller, but it's so much more! It is a heartfelt story about life...the struggles we face, the relationships we forge, the regrets we hold on to, the judgements we make and the path we choose to take. Life is a precious journey and we should enjoy living it...find the value in your day, treasure those you hold dear, appreciate the small things, like the beauty of a snowflake and more importantly live in the here and now because heaven can also be a place on earth.

Out of the Box

Another 5 star story from Megan Hart. As usual, the plot is out of the Box...original and engaging. The narration was excellent!

Sparkless

I liked it, but I did not love it like I usually do with Nicolas Sparks' books. The story mixes in a bit of romance with a lot of mystery and a little action thriller. Even if some of the plot was somewhat far-fetched, it was still an entertaining read!

Parallel Lives

Wow, I absolutely LOVED it. The story was unique even though it was similar in concept to the movie Sliding Doors. It is a story about Hannah; a twenty-nine year old that is at a crossroads in her life...unsure of the decisions she has made in her life thus far and where she should go from this point on. How will her life be altered based solely on a single decision. At this juncture, should she or shouldn't she, that is the question. The author takes the reader on a journey through both decisions and their impact on Hannah's life. The writing is flawless and even though the two parallel lives are told concurrently from chapter to chapter, it flows nicely without skipping a beat. The characters were well developed and I liked the fact that Hannah remained consistent to who she was regardless of the two different paths her life took. This is the first book I have read from this author and it certainly will not be my last!

Hook, Line & Sinker

First off the writing and the narration are both absolutelyt amazing...it would have to be to make a sane person actually like the psychopath better than the other characters in the story. Joe is seriously a likable guy when he is not being scary and killing people! Yes, I know how absolutely ridiculous I sound...in fact, I had to put this book aside for a few days at about 50% because I was worried about my sanity due to my weird fondness of Joe!?!?!? WTH? I rationalized that the reason for this disturbing sentiment regarding Joe was influenced by the fact that all the other characters were self-absorbed and completely annoying, where Joe was simply mentally ill; he actually had a good personality...far better than the rest of the crew! He was seriously witty and I enjoyed his internal dialogue. But again, you should not find a psychopath likable, not even a charismatic one! In the end, I was horrified by Joe's actions, realizing what he was actually capable of doing and how he justified all of it. At the same time I am fascinated by the story itself and where the author will take us in the next book, Hidden Bodies. I never thought myself to be into suspenseful fiction, but I will admit this story pulled me in...hook, line and sinker!

Totally Frustrating

I had hoped that the story would pick up, but Olivia continued to be whiny and indecisive. Infidelity is a serious topic and in a work of fiction, the situation surrounding an affair has to be such that the reader can connect with the unfaithful character. And I simply did not relate to Olivia at all, nor did it make sense that she chose to marry Bill because he was a safe option...say what??? Why does Olivia need safe? It seems to me that She is the one dangerous to the heart! I just do not buy that her need to make her marriage work, even though she was apparently unhappy, had to do with her parent's failed union! I mean shit happens, you had bad role models and your life is what you make it...suck it up buttercup! Also, she kept saying she did not want to hurt Bill; well guess what, by hanging on to him, desiring someone else, cheating and settling for him is hurting Bill!!! And David, what is it specifically about Olivia that you cannot live without because honestly, I do not get it!?!?? The story frustrated me so much so that I am done reading about the cluster that is of Olivia's making...At this point I do not care how it all ends for any of them!

Artfully Suspenseful

A mystery-thriller, absolutely...a romance novel, well not really; however, there are elements of a romance within the context of the secrecy and conspiracy behind the 'whodunit' plot. Although, I will say that this author always provides a fascinating plot device mixed in with her romance stories, indulging the reader with some artful suspense (something not revealed that must be uncovered slowly as the story progresses), this book is definitely not a typical K.A. Tucker story line. Yet, the writing was standard issue in regards to this outstanding author...solid, engaging and clever!

With that said and considering that I am probably the quintessential romance reader, I thoroughly enjoyed this book; but I went in not expecting it to be a true romance, thanks to my 'go to' goodreads reviewer, Jessica. All the elements of a great read are there...the characters are well-developed and fascinating, perfect pacing and solid mechanics and as always, K.A. Tucker delivers a thought-provoking and compelling tale!

Break Out the Tissues

This poignantly written story is heartfelt, endearing and utterly heartbreaking! But definitely a MUST read! The narrators were perfect and really made you feel the story.
