Make people afraid of the library
Revisado: 06-13-24
Horrible presentation of a public library. Sorry I paid money for this one. If I had heard this as a child I might never have gone to the library again

From his opening letter “Dear America” to his “Dear Willie” epilogue, Willie digs deep into his heart and soul—and his music catalog—to lift us up in difficult times, and to remind us of the endless promise and continuous obligations of all Americans—to themselves, to one another, and to their nation.

Historia
Once upon a time, in the magical land of San Francisco, there lived a not-so-ordinary girl named Laurel Pettigrew. She was supposed to be the Chosen One. The plan was simple: She would vanquish the great evil Tybus in an epic battle. But destiny had other ideas, and Laurel's performance in the whole heroics department was a colossal flop. Now, instead of being a legendary hero, Laurel's the resident pariah of the magic realm. And what’s worse, the dark wizard Tybus swooped in, took over the realm, and forced all supernatural creatures to live under his tyrannical rule.

Disappointed
Revisado: 12-15-23
I loved Felicia Day in "Supernatural" and "The Guild", and had really high hopes for this book. It had gotten such high ratings, I was eager to listen. I really did not like the story at all. I found it silly and boring. I love listening to Neil Gaiman and Wil Wheaton narrate books. The rest of the cast other than the silly little girl were great (I disliked the book so much I can't even remember the silly little girl's name). The narration cast is the only reason I finished the book.

Historia
At Iyot Lock, a large decaying house, two young cousins, Leonora and Edward, are parked for the summer with their aging spinster aunt and her cruel housekeeper. At first the unpleasantness and petty meanness appear simply spiteful, calculated to destroy Edward's equanimity. But when the spoiled Leonora is not given the birthday present of a specific dolly that she wants, affairs inexorably take a much darker turn with terrifying, life-destroying consequences for everyone.

Historia
The story begins in 1962. On a rocky patch of the sun-drenched Italian coastline, a young innkeeper, chest-deep in daydreams, looks out over the incandescent waters of the Ligurian Sea and spies an apparition: a tall, thin woman, a vision in white, approaching him on a boat. She is an actress, he soon learns, an American starlet, and she is dying. And the story begins again today, half a world away, when an elderly Italian man shows up on a movie studio's back lot - searching for the mysterious woman he last saw at his hotel decades earlier.

Better than expected
Revisado: 08-06-18
I bought this audio a couple of years ago during a 2 for 1 and just now got around to listening. Wish I had gotten to it sooner! Awesome book, several stories that come together and combine to make an ending that is sometimes tragic, sometimes hopeful. I rarely give 5-stars, but this one was really worth the listen..

Sci-Fi Murder Mystery
Revisado: 07-04-18
This is my second time to read/listen to this book and I love the story. This is one of my favorite sci-fi murder mysteries, but I absolutely detest the fact that Bailey calls all the robots "boy." It was first published in the 1950's, so it was quite true to the time it was written, but there was no excuse for the way that term was used then and it bothers me to hear it now.

Springtime in Mississippi is abloom with beauty, but the library's employees are too busy worrying to stop and smell the flowers. But his biggest offense is declaring all four-legged creatures banned from the stacks. With enemies aplenty, the suspect list is long when Reilly's body is discovered in the library.

Different narrator?
Revisado: 04-13-18
Since the protagonist is male and the book is written in first person, it seems to me that the narrator should have been male. Erin Bennett does a good job, but I think it would have been better with a male reader.

I thought it was horrible and sadistic. It was well written, it held my attention, but like the children, I thought things would get better and things just kept getting worse and worse. I will not be continuing with this series.

Awesome
Revisado: 10-31-17
AWESOME!!! For anyone that loves video games. Great listen. Wil Wheaton does an awesome job! This was my second time to read, well listen really, to this book. It was just as good this time as the last time I read it. I'm not sure that non-video game players would love it as much as I do. I am a faithful World of Warcraft player and when my boys were young and video games were first making their appearance, I was right in there with them playing and trying to beat the game. Where other parents were ready to go somewhere and yelled at their kids to turn the game off during an especially critical time, I understood and let them finish the level before making them turn it off. Sometimes we were late to places, but so what. This book has that feel. Also, the world of Oasis sounds fantastic to me and I think we are getting there - shopping malls on line, schools with interactive video (WONDERFUL idea), and unlimited video games, lol. I can't wait :) “AUDIBLE 20 REVIEW SWEEPSTAKES ENTRY”
