Historia
Nils Holgersson is a naughty boy who pulls the tails of cats and trips up his mother while she is carrying the milk pail. Then one day he discovers he has been magically turned into a tiny imp. He climbs on the back of a gander and takes off with a flock of wild geese as they fly over Sweden, soaring above patchwork fields, through storms, to castles and lakes and even to a city under the sea. As he learns about the world, he also learns what it means to care for living things, in Selma Lagerlöf's timeless and beloved fable.

Fascinating and Unique
Revisado: 05-30-22
What an interesting book; a classic Swedish children’s story from 1906. It’s a highly entertaining fantasy story about a boy who is turned into a tiny gnome, who rides on the back of a goose and flies all over Sweden, having adventures as he learns about each region. It’s a pretty clean book, although “ass” is used in the old-fashioned British sense to mean a silly person. The animals in the story talk, but they still act like real animals, for the most part, so some characters are killed by foxes, etc. The narrator was excellent, and particularly helpful in this case because he knows how to pronounce all the Swedish names! He was a little slow, but I set it at 1.2x speed, and that was just right.

Historia
Treasure Island must be the most enthralling adventure book ever written. As we listen to the voice of Jim Hawkins telling his extraordinary tale, and later that of his companion, Dr. Livesey, we are plunged into a world of pirates, buried treasure, mutiny, and deceit.

Brilliantly narrated
Revisado: 07-03-20
I highly recommend this version of Treasure Island. The narration was simply brilliant; it couldn’t have been done better. The narrator does a masterful job with different voices and accents for each character, and he even very subtly changes the voice of young Jim Hawkins, the narrator, to reflect his growing maturity as the story goes along. Naxos Audiobooks are always well done, but this one takes the cake in my opinion!

Historia
The glory of ancient Greece is all around us, even in the 21st century, because Greece was the cradle of Western civilisation. We know about the gods and their characters - Zeus, Athene, Apollo, Ares, Aphrodite - and their heroes, both legendary (Heracles) and historical (Alexander the Great). Architecture, mathematics, politics, philosophy, observation of nature and the cosmos and much more emerged in ancient Greece.

Enjoyed by parents and kids
Revisado: 03-23-20
My kids and I really enjoy all the Naxos Junior audiobooks. I particularly enjoyed this one, but that’s not surprising, since I’m the one in the family with an interest in ancient history. My kids (ages 10, 8, and 6) enjoyed it more than I thought they would, though. They told me they would give it four stars.
I particularly appreciated the way that the writer helped the listener to remember who is who as you move through the audiobook. When you’re learning about Greek history, the names can all start to sound the same. The writer of this story did a good job of helping the listener keep all these people straight, and I thought he did a good job of keeping it interesting while also covering a surprising amount of history in such a short audiobook.

Historia
In this pulse-pounding short thriller for fans of Big Little Lies and The Last Mrs. Parrish, Maggie Cabot refuses to sit by idly as police re-open an investigation into the mysterious death of a woman her husband used to know. After two decades in a near-perfect marriage, Maggie and James Cabot are enjoying their first year as empty-nesters in their charming Florida suburb, until two detectives arrive at their front door and change their lives forever.

First World Reactions
Revisado: 12-16-19
Ms. Hunt’s protagonist watches modern police shows but has no idea that they can’t call a judge and get the husband off his murder rap. The 49-year-old husband also doesn’t seem to realize that information exists on social media.
I’ve got an hour left and I’m struggling to finish.
The narrator does a good job, though her male voices aren’t wonderful.

Historia
Guy Montag is a fireman. In his world, where television rules and literature is on the brink of extinction, firemen start fires rather than put them out. His job is to destroy the most illegal of commodities, the printed book, along with the houses in which they are hidden. Montag never questions the destruction and ruin his actions produce, returning each day to his bland life and wife, Mildred, who spends all day with her television "family."

One of the best audiobooks I’ve ever heard. Robbins brings the story to life in an incredible fashion.

Historia
Jerin is a mental freak - a man capable of successfully playing a dozen simultaneous chess games against first-rate players while he himself is out of sight of any of the boards. It is while thus engaged that he is killed. A millionaire - his opponent in more realms than chess - is accused, and Nero Wolfe is given what appears to be the most hopeless case he and Archie Goodwin have ever tackled.

Great work, editing isn’t so great.
Revisado: 03-13-19
The story is great, the performance is great, the editing is clumsy. This was originally on cassette and the A-B side changes are really abrupt.
