Very useful advice about how to build your company’s culture
Revisado: 08-26-24
I liked how Ben went from discussing great leaders and their behaviors and projecting these values to building a company with a solid culture.

Historia
They say you shouldn't ask your mom whether your business is a good idea, because she loves you and will lie to you. This is technically true, but it misses the point. You shouldn't ask anyone if your business is a good idea. It's a bad question, and everyone will lie to you at least a little. As a matter of fact, it's not their responsibility to tell you the truth. It's your responsibility to find it, and it's worth doing right.

Some very good advice but ended up being a bit repetitive
Revisado: 03-27-23
Concise book with some very good practical advice. Funny and very lively narration. The only thing I’d say as a negative is that at time it felt repetitive. The same message circulated over and over.

Historia
Amazon.com started off delivering books through the mail. But its visionary founder, Jeff Bezos, wasn't content with being a bookseller. He wanted Amazon to become the everything store, offering limitless selection and seductive convenience at disruptively low prices. To do so, he developed a corporate culture of relentless ambition and secrecy that's never been cracked. Until now.

Amazon’s inspiring story to raise to the top
Revisado: 01-16-21
I liked how the story developed by starting with Bezos personal story and what led to the conception of the everything store. I also liked the presentation of all the hurdles that led to success, the description of the good and the not-so-good things that potentially Amazon did in its 20+ year existence.
At times, the story was progressing a bit slow, but a great audiobook overall!

How did Fidel Castro fool the CIA for a generation? Why did Neville Chamberlain think he could trust Adolf Hitler? Why are campus sexual assaults on the rise? Do television sitcoms teach us something about the way we relate to each other that isn't true? While tackling these questions, Malcolm Gladwell was not solely writing a book for the page. He was also producing for the ear. In the audiobook version of Talking to Strangers, you’ll hear the voices of people he interviewed - scientists, criminologists, military psychologists.

Interesting story but spent too much time reiterating the same message
Revisado: 05-23-20
It was a very interesting story but chapter after chapter it keeps reiterating the very same message. I believe it could have been much shorter and concise.

Historia
Ben Horowitz offers essential advice on building and running a startup - practical wisdom for managing the toughest problems business school doesn’t cover, based on his popular ben’s blog. While many people talk about how great it is to start a business, very few are honest about how difficult it is to run one. The Hard Thing About Hard Things is invaluable for veteran entrepreneurs as well as those aspiring to their own new ventures, drawing from Horowitz’s personal and often humbling experiences.

A MUST read if you want to try the startup route

A mind blowing book about how to think about starting a business and about how to not panick when there are no solutions... because there won’t be any solutions most of the times!
