Historia
Piers, an exiled warrior from Thalyria, finds himself in the Big Apple just before the holidays. The world and everything in it might be utterly foreign to him, but that won't stop Piers from helping to complete a vital mission for Athena. His goal? To protect Sophie, a French teacher from Connecticut who's suddenly knee-deep in inexplicable phenomena, danger, and henchmen after an Olympian treasure that should never have ended up in her hands—or remained on Earth after the Greek gods abandoned it.

I knew it would be short but some short stories pack a lot of substance into them. This felt a little too rushed for my taste but it wasn't awful, just a cheesy sort of cute.

Historia
When a ghost ship is discovered, its crew presumed dead after trying to reach the storm-shrouded island Akina, Navani Kholin must send an expedition to make sure the island hasn't fallen into enemy hands. Knights Radiant who fly too near find their Stormlight suddenly drained, so the voyage must be by sea. Shipowner Rysn Ftori lost the use of her legs but gained the companionship of Chiri-Chiri, a Stormlight-ingesting winged larkin, a species once thought extinct. Now Rysn's pet is ill, and any hope for Chiri-Chiri’s recovery can be found only at the ancestral home of the larkin.

Enjoyable novella
Revisado: 10-14-24
It sounded like the narrator had a cold at times. Since this audiobook has the same narrators as Oathbringer which I'd just finished, this is obviously an audio problem with this book only so far. It was only the female narrator and I kept expecting her to clear her throat, kind of annoying.

Historia
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Epic Fantasy at its best
Revisado: 07-21-24
Obviously a 5 star read. I switched back and forth between the physical book and the audio. A few times I left the audio playing while I read and did notice full sentences were left out in the audible version and some words were changed. I wonder if the script the narrator was given was different than the book or perhaps it's simply my edition?

Historia
Tisaanah bargained away her own freedom to save those she left behind in slavery. Now, bound by her blood pact, she must fight the Orders' war—and Max is determined to protect her at all costs. But when a betrayal tears apart Ara, Max and Tisaanah are pushed into an even bloodier conflict. Tisaanah must gamble with Reshaye's power to claim an impossible victory. And Max, forced into leadership, must confront everything he hoped to forget: his past, and his own mysterious magic. All the while, darker forces loom—far darker, even, than the Orders' secrets.

The story was devastatingly beautiful
Revisado: 05-06-24
The audible experience wasn't the best. The female narrator was okay but her accents and somewhat garbled speech was annoying. I don't know if this was her actual voice or if it was a crappy microphone. Also, there were times when thumping could be heard in the background. Children, pets, apartment living, NONE of that is acceptable for poor recording quality. As for the man, he didn't seem able to flow smoothly from one sentence to the next and he had a bad habit of audibly sucking in air every now and then. Overall, if this title hadn't been included with my membership, I'd be asking for a refund. Fortunately, I have the physical book so I skipped chapters in the audible to read the physical book every now and then. I'll make sure not to purchase any books narrorated by these two.
