Overall solid
Revisado: 02-12-23
The novel was well written, the narrator went back and forth from awesome to really weird. Some voices I couldn't get over (calista), and I didn't quite understand how the narrator chose between English accent and then American southern for some characters. It did actually take away from the story some places.

Good story, narration was sometimes odd
Revisado: 01-28-23
Sometimes the voices sounded like Muppets. Those characters were not main characters, so it's bearable.

Tedious, pontificating story
Revisado: 01-07-23
I loved this fanciful movie growing up, and have never been disappointed by the book it was adapted from - until now. The writing was good, but the story was so tedious. "oh Ann, Ann; where's my Ann? I must help her, tell her, see her, save her." This was a work about a horrible co-dependancy (it did not even come across as romantic). There was also a hefty amount of pontificating about life and over explaining the minutia of how "heaven worked" without the beauty of how they portrayed it in the movie. I can't even believe that phrase was typed by me, but here we are- I wanted to give up, but the story was so different that I was curious how it ended. Disappointed!

Sam and Sadie—two college friends, often in love, but never lovers—become creative partners in a dazzling and intricately imagined world of video game design, where success brings them fame, joy, tragedy, duplicity, and, ultimately, a kind of immortality. It is a love story, but not one you have heard before.

Couldn't finish
Revisado: 12-14-22
Natalie Ross sounded like a southern bell trying to do an Irish street accent, and it was so bad it was distracting. I couldn't get past that to even go more than two chapters in, and I ended up returning the book.
The content is a little gross too. This story is about a little girl (14) and a bunch of adult males are lusting after her- and I'm sorry but who wants to read that? Who wants their teens to read that? Then to read that the male narrator actually was convicted of inappropriate behavior toward a 14 year old girl. No, no and more no.

Historia
When Mouse’s dad asks her to clean out her dead grandmother's house, she says yes. After all, how bad could it be? Answer: pretty bad. Grandma was a hoarder, and her house is stuffed with useless rubbish. That would be horrific enough, but there’s more - Mouse stumbles across her step-grandfather’s journal, which at first seems to be filled with nonsensical rants...until Mouse encounters some of the terrifying things he described for herself.

I didn't really enjoy the ending, or narration
Revisado: 12-29-21
I really wanted to know what happened, so I actually found spoilers but not enough to avoid having to read it to figure out how they pulled it off. this book was not believable, and didn't try to be. it was a little creepy a little suspenseful, and I hated the ending. Explaination was way overdone because the writing wasn't good enough to pull it off without every detail being worked out which I hate. the main character was an awful person (Lowen, not Verity), and none of the characters were developed well at all. The manuscript voices and rhythm were way weird as well. Nope.

Narrator, meh, lots of plot holes.
Revisado: 09-03-21
Writing was awkward in the present tense, and the narrator had very strange speech patterns which were very distracting. The idea for the heroine was interesting, it just didn't deliver.

Revisado: 09-16-19
The story was decent, language was forced and acting was overdone. It almost sounds like it's trying to be on stage rather than a story in my car. I'm going to buy the kindle version for the next book.
