All Devyn wants - besides a tall, fine husband and eventually a few babies to fulfill her "about to turn thirty, running out of time, cute black family" dreams - is to finish her yearlong internship at University Hospital. She's excited about the experience, eager to learn, glad to help wherever she can...it should be easy, right? Well, it would be...if it weren't for arrogant, know-it-all, always-got-something-to-say Dr. Joseph Wright. Devyn can't stand him, and if his attitude is any indication, the feeling is mutual...or is it?

"The Pu$$y Doctor Is In"
Revisado: 04-25-25
I looooove a good secret romance and actually experienced that with my now husband of 7 years 😊. The thrill of having rendezvous that people in the office had no clue of was such a rush and served us well to not have anyone in our business.
Devyn and Joseph kept me in smiles with their back and forth banter and acting like they weren't feeling each other. That elevator scene of them bickering and the heat between them had me anticipating when their dam of lust was gonna break, and I was not disappointed. SIDE BAR: That candy scene at Devyns house and Joseph choking trynna be sexy was hilarious. I definitely could see that happening to my husband 😅.
Reading about all these successful black professionals was so great cause it focused more about their ambition and intelligence instead of all the various stereotypes that gets placed on us. I loved their family and friends dynamic and how they were always there for each other with words of wisdom and encouragement.
Malcolm had me wanting to throw my phone at the wall with his possessiveness and all the mess he kept saying to Devyn. I wished she went head to head with him more and didn't have moments of nervousness, BUT the way her brother Eric and Joseph put him in his place was just what THE DOCTOR ordered.
Thank you to the author for not letting the drama of their exes overshadow the relationship they were trying to cultivate. I appreciated the small level of drama that didn't turn into a shyt storm just to end in a HEA. Love doesn't always have to be a battlefield.
Lastly, kudos to Sean and Adenrele on bringing this book to life with their narrations. Loved it 💚 Now on to the last brother...can we get a book on Eric and Aviva. Inquiring minds want to know!

Historia
When 26-year-old Reese accepts a position as a grad assistant, she has no idea an unpleasant encounter with a student will lead to the discovery of what she calls "the trifecta": fine, intellectual, and a little bit rude - three qualities she finds irresistible in a man. She has no intention of doing anything with that discovery. But everybody knows what happens to best laid plans. Jason is a grown man. He's at Blakewood State University to finish his degree and move on. The last thing he's interested in is the female population on campus...Reese might be a notable exception.

School Is Out!
Revisado: 04-24-25
This was such a cute book with a lot of sweet and real moments between Reese and Jason. I loved how we were first introduced to Jason through a well thought out paper for a class, defending the honor of black women. He was passionate and empathetic and Reese was a swooning mess before she ever met him. His depth was such a breath of fresh air for Reese and they were great together. Reese needed his strong and protecting nature to make her feel loved and safe and Jason needed her attitude to understand and challenge him.
I loved the storyline line of their parents getting together but I wish we had more interaction with their family. Maybe in the next book.
I would have liked a little more spice or teasing between Reese and Jason but all in all this was a really good book. The narrator's really brought life to the story 💚

If my time with Ryan Miller were a hit track on the radio, I imagine the lyrics would go something like this: We're so different, but they say opposites attract. Oops, I've fallen, and my heart doesn't want to come back. His dad lives right next to my mom, and after the two of them suffered an unexplained accident while taking down holiday decorations, both Ryan and I were forced to become the only 30something residents of Sunny Creek Village Independent Senior Living Community.

Things went From 0 to 100 real quick!
Revisado: 04-22-25
I'm so confused with this book. I thought the premise was so cute with 2 young successful adults having to take care of their parents, who are neighbors in a senior community and unbeknownst to them lovers, after an accident left them both injured.
Everything seemed light and jovial with moments of seeing their parents act like love crazed teens, sending them into fits of embarassment, but then the mood between the kids switches from sweet and playful to naughty so quickly. Not some cute little kissing, hand holding and petting between Ryan and Carly but full-on erotic interactions.
All of a sudden Ryan, who is a stickler for following rules and keeping things in order, turns into a sex crazed Dom. I was so taken back at the quick switch in personality for him. I honestly thought "bad girl" Carly was going to totally turn him out but it seems like he's been a closet freak the whole time. I mean, I like reading light bdsm and erotica but this was so unexpected and didn't give me the feels. Also, if I had to hear him call her "Sweetheart" like some old man one more time... I just kept cringing.
Something about the narrator's voices messed this whole book for me. The male narrator sounds like a surfer dude while the female narrator sounds like a nasally brat... What should have been a book that took a day and a half to listen to now has me at day 4 with 3 more hours to go 🤯. I'm not a quitter, so I have to finish, but it's a struggle...I wouldn't listen to this again.

This Warmed My 💚🧩
Revisado: 04-17-25
As the mom of a 5yr. old girl on the spectrum this story meant the world to me. I'm so thankful for the author's vision and for sharing what ASD looks like from the heart of a parent, specifically for a mom.
Since my daughter's diagnosis, I tend worry about what life will look like for my little one. She sees life through a different lens and processes things differently so I sometimes focus on the things she struggles with rather than what she es excelling in. Her dad and I are her biggest advocates and we have a village behind us encouraging through our journey. I'm just grateful for all the programs, teachers and assistants for their dedication and help.
This book has been in my library for months but I was nervous about reading it because I didn't want to get overly emotional BUT this was a beautiful story about a mother's love and determination to do ANYTHING to help her child succeed. I loved Oz and was encouraged so much to hear him express his feelings and find ways to overcome something that triggers him. This story helped me to see a 🌈 that I know I will be in my daughter's future after any little storm that comes our way. Through tears, I say thank you. We definitely need more stories like this (and longer ones too 😊.)

Touré Wallace and Niomi Spencer were close friends at Finley College, the prestigious HBCU they attended. The attraction that simmered between them every semester was a question they never got to ask or answer before soaring ambitions launched them to opposite corners of the world. Both chased their dreams of grit and glamor as high-profile journalists. They got it all...except a shot at being more than friends. Years later, Touré is an award-winning investigative journalist and Niomi is America's most popular morning-show host, but they both feel like something’s missing.

No One Does It Like The South
Revisado: 04-16-25
I thought this was such a cute read with a pinch of spice. I wish it was longer but the author did a great job giving depth to the characters feelings based on flashbacks of their past.
This book made me wish I changed my mind about going to an HBCU like my mom did. I feel like I would have had a totally different experience and been in a whole different place in life, BUT I'm glad for where my past took me 😁.
I'd love to see more short reads like this with HEA.

"The Little Man In The Boat 🤣"
Revisado: 04-15-25
First, Let me say thank everybody needs/wants an Uncle Lee Chester in their family. He kept me in stitches whenever he popped up in the books.
Listening to this book was bittersweet. On the one hsnd I'm upset that there are no other McLains to meet but happy to see every one of the siblings get their HEA. Yes there was drama but in the end everyone won.
It's a tie for me between my favorite brother...it's between Leeland & Neil 😍.
Neil had me at "My favorite movie is THE WIZ." I totally didn't expect it but his reason for it was special.
I got chills with how deeply connected Neil was with Sage. Especially after the strip club fiasco and bridge scenario. He was so protective of her, and with good reason. I loved how quickly their love grew. They went from 2 tortured souls to finding their peace with each other and I want to believe in this destined kind of love. I also appreciated the author not putting too much time and energy into the possible big conflicts as she allowed the characters to handle communication well.
I love when a writer includes song titles and artist names to their book and Alexandria House did not disappoint in this book. I literally stop listening to the audible to look up the song so I can feel what the character's headspace is like in the moment
I absolutely love when book characters cross over from different series (Angela & Ryan 💚) because it makes me feel like I'm in their world and know everything going on. Lol.
Kudos to the narrators. Great job capturing the characters emotions and making everything feel real
I have so much to praise but my time is up

Not My Cup Of "Coffee"...I Mean Tea.
Revisado: 04-08-25
Over all when I look at the big picture, this was a cute book. I loved the woman impowerment displayed and seeing how having a disability doesn't mean you are handicap at having a "badass" life. I actually liked the narrator and how real she made the characters feel.
With all the good points being acknowledged I must admit that this book was so hard to finish and that I had to take days off from listening to get my frustration under wraps. I mean, I started the series backward by reading "Always A Bridemaid" with Randi as the main charactet, so I was interested in finding out more about Zelda.
This whole thing with her dad marrying her old classmate (nemesis) 6 mths after her mom died truly had my blood boiling. Then, her being made to feel bad about being angry about it bothered me even more. That scenario was so wrong (in my opinion). I think her feelings were warranted. Maybe that makes me selfish too or immature (at 43) bit I won't apologize for that.
I get that her dad was grieving the loss of his wife, but I didn't agree with what he did, and that messed me up from liking the story and how love grew between Zelda and Jake. It took entirely too long for Zelda to tell him she was the Breakup Artist. I hated Jake's ex but the twist of who she was, was very unexpected so kudos to the author for that. Being that Zelda was so close to her friends, especially Randi, it also bothered me how long it took her to tell them her secret.
With all this being said, I wouldn't listen to this book again BUT now I will be waiting for the 3rd book for Margot to come out to complete the series and learn how she makes out in the love department.

She's the only sister in a family of alpha males. Loved, treasured, and sheltered by her brothers, Kat McClain is working to heal the pain of a failed marriage to a man she loved from her teenage years and move on with her life, but she's a woman; she has needs, and she's understandably lonely. Tommy Kirby has protected her brother since he was barely a man and has been a silent staple in the McClain family for just as long. He loves his job, his life, and is loyal to his employer. More than anything, he wants a family of his own. Perhaps these two are exactly what the other desires.

Everything Felt So Rushed
Revisado: 04-03-25
The first book with Big South gave me anxiety, the second book with Leland gave me butterflies with the age trope and his dirty words (and those waiste beads 😅), the third book with Nolan gave me some traumatic back story and kink but this book didn't do justice to Kat at all. All it painted her to be was the cheated on sister of sexy successful brothers on the verge of divorced. It was mentioned she was a business owner but I can't even remember what it was that she did. She was the nanny and assistant to her brother Leeland.
I needed more depth to her and Tommy. Everything was so surface. Jakobis narration was great as usual but the female voice... not so much (sorry.)

I absolutely LOOOOVE a full cast narration! It brings such a movie or play feel! This story was a great take on the behind the scenes action for a reality TV dating show. This is why I'm good not being in a spotlight, everyone is pulling your strings and in your business. Nope, no thank you. It felt so real. Great job to the author and all the narrators.
