The parallelism to my own story.
Revisado: 12-31-23
I love the narrator. Thank goodness this series wasn’t handled like so many other books when recording. A new narrator nearly every book — a totally yuckster approach.

Favorites
Revisado: 12-09-18
This Trilogy is one of my all time favorites when it comes to audiobooks. Age now requires my reading to be of the audio variety, and I find I do enjoy this medium despite some false starts. This particular series covers much I find enjoyable, and Simon Vance does such a great job performing the story. Such a wonderful voice! I don’t particularly like Volume 4 onward, but this first Trilogy actually by Steig Larsson scratches the itch quite perfectly!! Hate some of the things Lisbeth does in her interpersonal relationships, even with us, but find I understand it more than others might, since one of the members of the female triplets I am father of was born with a personality much like Lisbeth, and acts much the same in many areas of her life, except for being very reserved in her sexuality. On Dec 1st 2007 all 3 celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary with their first husbands, the same 3 men who were gifted with their virginity on the same day, if all there were honest. A party much like the younger days of this old boy in that it was a huge blowout!!!

Find an Editor Who Insists on Proper Pronunciation
Revisado: 11-04-18
I loved the book in general, but every time ms Monique Makena mispronounced names it cost me a layer of tooth enamel, and her points against a five star review.
•1). Renate is a German proper name. It is NOT pronounced Re-Nate This app doesn’t allow me to use proper pronunciation symbols, so I’ll try to get the sounds across using the regular English alphabet. Ra-nah-taa comes pretty close yet still lacks — unless you can go find out using your pronouncing dictionary.
•2). Lourdes in also misprounced. It is a French word naming a city in SW France, and a Roman Catholic shrine famed for miraculous cures. It is pronounced Lourd in French, with the es being silent. That one should be on Brenda Novak for picking a name that really doesn’t fit her story.
I’m not going to spend any brain cells on things that don’t match from one story to the next in her Whisky Creek series, which for the most part has been enjoyable enough to merit re-listens for two of the better stories.
Note one – Find a good story continuity editor!
Note two – I HATE the usage of terms like “hard Length” versus reality in calling it out true — an “erection” or normal nicknames almost everyone uses, such as “hard-on.”
Hard Length — blech!!!

Christie Ridgway's light and breezy romances have earned glowing praise from contemporaries and critics alike. Nikki Carmichael can no longer work in a restaurant, thanks to a knee injury. So, she signs on to be hunky Jay Buchanan's private chef. Soon the heat's rising in the kitchen - and everywhere else!

Barriers and Barndoors
Revisado: 07-08-17
Even though I'm an old retired male, I enjoy romances and ones like this with some comedic moments. I grew up in a household like was described for Nikki's childhood. To gain favor all that was required was complete quiet. I did enjoy Jay's and Nikki's predilections towards each other while attempting to remain hidden in their own ways, behind their own barriers, yet both falling for each other and not seeming to want to acknowledge that crack in their hearts barrier.

Their only objective: destroy all traces of the gas and the men who created it - no matter how many lives may be lost...including their own.

Lovey Time @ the Local Concentration Camp
Revisado: 07-10-15
Having been a young Officer posted to West Germany post WW2 straight out of West Point, I find myself fully invested in the love expressed between two of our main actors in this account. Mr. Iles gets that part of the story down so exact. Wasn't there behind enemy lines, but sometimes it felt like it!

Extremely Poor Narrator
Revisado: 05-02-10
I purchased this ebook based on the recommendation of a friend, who, knowing my love of history, and the OSS in particular because my father spent his war life working in the OSS during WWII, thought I would enjoy this book. I DID NOT ENJOY THIS BOOK!.
And the whole reason is because of the narrator, Mr. Christopher Lane.
PROS: Book
CONS: Narrator
SUMMARY: Mr. Lane needs to either go to a school to learn how to do accents and dialects before spewing forth verbal garbage such as in this book that ruins the whole ebook presentation.
I DID enjoy the historical information presented in the book itself, but this was all ruined because Mr. Lane thinks that he has the ability to mimic different language accents and dialects, which he CANNOT do at all because every foreign language he attempts sounds the same.
If I could just award separate ratings for the book, and for the ebook voicing performance or presentation of the book, I would rate the book at 4.5, and the ebook voicing at a negative 5.
Therefore, in summary I have to give this book a 1 since that is the lowest rating available.
