Historia
Spanning 30 years of American history, from the twilight of Kennedy’s Camelot to the days leading up to Bill Clinton’s election, We Are All Good People Here perfectly resonates with today’s fraught American political zeitgeist and asks us: why do good intentions too often lead to tragic outcomes? Can we separate our political choices and our personal morals? And is it possible to truly bury our former selves and escape our own history?

Great story, faulty narration
Revisado: 08-21-19
A powerful story that I assume was biographical as to the second generation of friends. Too bad Simon and Schuster didn’t use a narrator familiar with Atlanta, the city where most of the story takes place. Or at least have the narrator consult with the author on how to pronounce Atlanta landmarks like Ponce de Leon and Manuel’s Tavern. Being an Atlanta native I found this frustrating and distracting. Apart from the words themselves the narrator emphasized words and phrases incorrectly for a southerner and stumbled as she was reading. Perhaps consider picking up a hard copy instead.

Historia
With simple yet descriptive prose, this novel gives voice to Nana the cat and his owner, Satoru, as they take to the road on a journey with no other purpose than to visit three of Satoru's longtime friends. Or so Nana is led to believe. With his crooked tail - a sign of good fortune - and adventurous spirit, Nana is the perfect companion for the man who took him in as a stray. And as they travel in a silver van across Japan, with its ever-changing scenery and seasons, they will learn the true meaning of courage and gratitude, of loyalty and love.

I absolutely loved this book. It was a very touching story that connected with me on many levels. The prose and narration were top notch. If you are an animal lover and know the power of a relationship with your pet, this book is not to be missed.

I think I’ve read almost all of Sophie Kinsella’s books and this one is a stand out. I absolutely loved the story and the relationship at its heart. This is well worth reading and the narrator does an excellent job.

Historia
Chrissie Hynde, the songwriter and front woman of The Pretenders in its various incarnations, has for 35 years been one of the most admired and adored and imitated figures in rock. This long-awaited memoir tells her life story in full and utterly fascinating detail, from her all-American Ohio '50s childhood to her classic baby-boomer seduction by the rock of the '60s to her sojourn in the crucible of punk that was '70s London to her instant emergence with her band, The Pretenders, in 1980 into stardom as a frontwoman and songwriter.

Great bio but narration was jarring and annoying at times
Revisado: 09-12-18
The story was a good rock star bio. I loved Christie’s writing style and her complete candor. Rosanna Arquette captured the attitude but sounded like she was sight reading the text, often stumbling over words, mispronouncing words, and sometimes changing what I thought was the author’s
intent with her choice of emphasis. I would have liked to hear it in Chrissie’s own voice. But if you’re a fan of Hynde, the Pretenders, music in general or of London, then its a worthwhile read.

A beautifully crafted and written story
Revisado: 04-02-16
I had read Joyce's debut novel and wanted to explore more of her work with Perfect. Reading it was an evocative and emotional journey. The characters and story were rich with detail. Paul Rhys had just the right tone for this piece. I was so impressed with everything about this book and it will stick with me for a long time.

Historia

Determined to investigate further, Lord John is distracted when the Crown calls for his services. A comrade in arms has been slain, and to complicate matters, the victim may have been a traitor. Now Lord John has not one but two puzzling mysteries to solve.
