Historia
Auras empowering the body to superhuman status. Invocations tearing the land asunder. The war has arrived. The necromantic armies are on the warpath and nowhere is safe—even the sanctuary of the flying dungeon has been threatened. The leadership of nearly all the sentient races has been wiped out, and only the people most suited to repelling the advancing darkness have an intact monarchy. Cal learns quickly that the primary threat is not the far-off war, but the actions of those entrusted with protecting the population.

A let down for an otherwise awesome series
Revisado: 02-24-19
The first three books were fantastic, however this one was a drop in quality. While the narrator was still as top notch as ever, the story did not feel the same flow as previous books and as such was a disappointment.
I feel this book should have been slowed down considerably, possibly extending into two books rather than the one that was attempted.

There is another 1985, somewhere in the could-have-been, where the Crimean war still rages, dodos are regenerated in home-cloning kits and everyone is deeply disappointed by the ending of 'Jane Eyre'.

Story is great, but is let down by performance
Revisado: 02-03-19
I really wanted to get into this story, but unfortunately the performance is too distracting for me.
- Female voices often have a deeper tone than male voices, thus generating a large disparity between my perception and the book. This created numerous clashes for me... essentially whenever a male character was introduced.
- When a change of location or character focus occurs there is little to distinguish between the two in terms of sound, generating a sense of confusion.
While such performance style may be fine with simpler stories, the context of the book is already quite confronting in its amusing and warped perspective, it really needs a good performance that can work with it, as oppossed to against it.
In all, i would love to see this narrative paired with a more appropriate performer.

Historia
The decision to start a new life is never an easy one, but for Joe the transition was far from figurative. Becoming a permanent addition to a game world, it doesn't take long to learn that people with his abilities are actively hunted. In fact, if the wrong people gained knowledge of what he was capable of, assassins would appear in droves.

MMORPG experience
Revisado: 09-29-18
It you are into fantasy computer games you may enjoy this story.
It is not a fantastic story, and its opening chapter is lacking somewhat, however it does get into the intersting content later with a lot of potential as it has a definate feel of setting up something much bigger in future books.
The narration is good considering that there are often readouts of statistics, but thus is not the fault of the narration, which is excellent.

Historia
For eons, conquering dungeons has been the most efficient way to become a strong adventurer. Although not everything is as straightforward as it seems. Several questions have always plagued the minds of those who enter these mythical places of power: why are there so many monsters? Where do the amazing weaponry and heavy gold coins come from? Why does the very air fill with life-giving energies? Cal has all of the answers to these age-old questions, for a very simple reason. He is a Dungeon Heart.

Historia
The adventuring industry drives the economy of Arth, a world much like our own but with more magic and fewer vowels. Monsters' hoards are claimed, bought by corporate interests, and sold off to plunder funds long before the Heroes' Guild actually kills the beasts. Of course, that's a terrible arrangement for the Shadowkin; orcs, goblins, kobolds, and their ilk must apply for to become Noncombatant Paper Carriers (or NPCs) to avoid being killed and looted by heroes.

Good story, narration sometimes frustrating.
Revisado: 05-06-17
Good story, but the narration sometimes paused at inconvenient points as well as using tones that did not reflect the context. Luckily the narration is not bad enough to subtract from the overall.

How do you improve a series... you do this!
Revisado: 03-21-17
I thought Bevan had reached the best he could with CF3, and he likely had. So how do you improve something so great?
You call for help from a higher power, surely Jesus Christ can help him out in this book... and he does.
Prepare do as I did and get weird looks for laughing out loud on public transport. The players face a new adventure that pushes their skills, statistics, and spells to their limits in their fight against the evil Mordred. They have never met such hilarious challenges as they face in this book.

Too short
Revisado: 10-24-16
I was disappointed by this story because it could have been much longer and drawn out. I would be interested if there were a longer version, or longer sequels, but as it stands right now it feels way too short.

Historia
Steve is hell's super, its handyman. Being Mr. Fixit to the underworld keeps him and his assistant, Orson Welles (yes, that Orson Welles), pretty busy, since things go on the blink all the time down there. No malfunction has ever created so much inconvenience, though, as the malfunction of hell's escalator, which leads from the pearly gates to the depths of Hades. What's worse: The breakdown appears to be sabotage.

Great idea, but too much secularism
Revisado: 10-24-16
I was of two minds about this story. While the idea was excellent, and the plot decent I was a bit turned off by the secularism. The secularism involved in order to keep the story actually created way more questions than it solved, leaving myself annoyed. Many plot holes are just solved by saying that it is a mystery and unknown, making it seem unreasonable for much of the claims to be made. If you take religion and philosophy seriously like I do then it can generate more headaches than enjoyment.
Despite this, the performance did help me enjoy it enough to finish it, but I am unlikely to go for the sequels unless exceptionally bored with everything else.
