An excellent book with a disinterested narrator

Himalaya tells an epic history in a relatable manner. It deserves a narrator who is actually interested in the material. Instead, the narrator sounds like he's reading the words phonetically instead of telling a story. I would have returned the book, but the writing was strong enough for me to listen while doing yardwork. I then go back and read parts of the book in the printed version.

Engaging story. Good action, but not too scary.

My 8 year old son and I loved this book! Included some science, so that's great. Had action, but not violence.

The bulk of the book rehashes what the 45th president of the United States has done during his first 9 months in office. If you read Naomi Klein, you probably follow the news and are aware of the current situation. So, reviewing 45's presidency feels redundant.
That being said, the final section discusses possible courses of action to build a better future. This is where this book is valuable. It presents some bold ideas, and makes a case for how and why we could implement them.

The series (so far) has been brisk and fun. it features a large cast of characters, and plays out like an HBO series.
I would note: there are some fairly heavy handed allusions to political figures and events in the USA. I enjoyed it, as it felt like the Enterprise crew showed up after the 2016 election and were dumbfounded by what they saw.
If you're OK with the former head of Breitbart being one of the most influential non-elected people in the country, this series might bother you.

This was a fun walk through the history of Batman, like a lighter version of Sean How's Marvel comics: the untold history. His voices were a little jarring at first, but aside from that, an engaging listen.

this is a kind of personal history of comics. on the whole, it is a fun trip down memory lane (for us older comic book fans). in parts funny, personal and insightful,, but you'll also have to forgive Morrison for his occasional self promotion and polemic.

The book is basically Cal telling Stacey/Athena how he did what he did in the previous book, confessions of a d list supervillain. The last chapter sets up the plot for the next book. If you really love the characters, this will be a nice interlude. Otherwise, this will feel superfluous.

I read Extreme Alpinism (also by Twight) nearly every day for a year when it first came out. It really impacted my world view.
For whatever reason, it took me 15 years to get around to reading Kiss or Kill.
The writing is inspiring, abrasive, funny and sad. If you are in a place in life where you are trying to expand personal boundaries or limitations, this is a good read.
The narrator does a good job of catching the cadence and attitude of the writing, but struggles with pronunciation on climbing terms and gear names.
