Historia
Suppose your life sucks. A lot. Your husband has done a vanishing act, your teenage stepson is being bullied, and your math-whiz daughter has a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that you can't afford to pay for. That's Jess' life in a nutshell - until an unexpected knight-in-shining-armor offers to rescue them. Only Jess' knight turns out to be Geeky Ed, the obnoxious tech millionaire whose vacation home she happens to clean. But Ed has big problems of his own, and driving the dysfunctional family to the Math Olympiad feels like his first unselfish act in ages...maybe ever.

Not as enjoyable as Me Plus You
Revisado: 07-18-15
Overall, it took several chapters before I was interested in the story. I was tempted to stop but I hate starting a book and not finishing it. I also had a little difficulty understanding the narrator in the beginning with the heavy British accent and slang. The story was ok overall, I finished it and was most engaged during the climax of the story. I felt her other book, Me Plus You was much more engaging

Kept my interest, great writing & characters!!
Revisado: 06-04-15
I wasn't sure if I would like the book based on the synopsis, it read as a typically story. The book was chosen for book club and I was pleasantly surprised. The first chapter hooked me in, and the writing and story kept me excited to hear what was next. I especially loved the characters and the scenes between Gen and Wolfe!

Historia
Three brothers tear their way through childhood—smashing tomatoes all over each other, building kites from trash, hiding out when their parents do battle, tiptoeing around the house as their mother sleeps off her graveyard shift. Paps and Ma are from Brooklyn—he’s Puerto Rican, she’s white—and their love is a serious, dangerous thing that makes and unmakes a family many times.

Did not catch my interest
Revisado: 05-20-15
I felt the story was sometimes hard to follow regarding what was going on, like trying to decipher poetry. And at no point did the story really grab my attention. I was surprised regarding the ending but don't see how the story supported it. I didn't connect with the characters, they all kind of annoyed me. I finished the book because it was chosen for book club but I didn't enjoy it at any point.

Historia
Few people realize that the Comanche Indians were the greatest warring tribe in American history. Their 40-year battle with settlers held up the development of the new nation. Empire of the Summer Moon tells of the rise and fall of this fierce, powerful, and proud tribe, and begins in 1836 with the kidnapping of a lovely nine-year-old girl with cornflower blue eyes named Cynthia Ann Parker.

A book of history that actual kept my interest
Revisado: 02-25-15
This book was chosen for our book club and I never expected to like it. I've never been a fan of history books, recalling the boring text books from school. But from the very beginning the book and its stories kept my interest. It was gruesome at times, but the author presented both sides of the story with honesty, humor, and without bias. My book club didn't care for the book overall, but I really enjoyed the story. There's a lot of detail and the author goes off tangents a lot but its to help you understand the back story. I started listening to the book while driving through the mountains in Colorado and finished it while at a ranch in west Texas. Maybe it was the landscape that helped keep my interest in the book as it was the setting for most all the stories but I loved the book and how the author wrote. I wish the history books in school were this good

Historia
How do some startups go from zero to billions in mere months? How did Alexander the Great, YouTube tycoon Michelle Phan, and Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon climb to the top in less time than it takes most of us to get a promotion? What do high-growth businesses, world-class heart surgeons, and underdog marketers do in common to beat the norm? One way or another, they do it like computer hackers. They employ what psychologists call "lateral thinking: rethinking convention and breaking "rules" that aren't rules.
