This reminded me so much of G Benson’s Who’d Have Thought book about fake dating with a doctor & nurse, but G Benson did it SOOO much better!

Boring

So very boring. I kept skipping ahead and I didn’t miss anything. As far as the narrator, sometimes I like her narration and voices and sometimes not, this was a not so much time.

I’m not sure why, but I had a hard time getting into this story and staying in. There is nothing wrong with it, it just didn’t grab my attention.

Too much introspection

I had to force myself to finish this. It’s a good story and I used to like this author, but it seems like with each new book the internal monologues and introspection keep getting longer and longer. A few times I forgot what the scene was about because the character’s thoughts went on and on and way off topic.
As far as the narrator, everyone seems to love her, but there were too many times all the characters sounded the same. The only distinction for older people is a shaky voices. She does a decent, non-annoying kid voice.

I tried to like it😖

I really like this author and usually love her books. I only somewhat enjoyed the first book in this series but thought it was just that I’m not a fan of the narrator so I tried this book . . . but nope. The narrator really ruins it but also this story just seemed to drag on. Oh and, I’m not a religious person, but wth was with all the “baby Jesus” comments?!? I’ll be returning this book.

Where’s the rest of the story?!?

This book jumps from beginning to end in a flash - so much so that I thought there was a download problem. But it wasn’t just the mc storyline- the side story of Blake’s relationships, bullying, and basketball just stopped. I know this is an ongoing series, but I was wanting to know the outcome of specific issues and events that the author spent a lot of time describing in the beginning and middle of the book.

I am usually okay with this narrator’s voice but she made every comment sound surprised - I was constantly expecting something startling to happen only to realize it was just the way she reads.

It was overall very disappointing.

Loved it, BUT . . .

I just cannot get over the “stipulation”. How did this make it into a book in this day and age!?!? If this were a m/f story it would have been torn apart for suggestions of prostitution. I wish the author would have just made it more of a joking comment and teasing than a serious ‘you have to have sex or no deal’ situation. I almost stopped reading after the stipulation was agreed on. I made myself ignore that part and then really loved the story. I don’t think it will be a book I’ll listen to again though because of the forced agreement.

It started out with a detailed sexual assault that almost made me stop listening right there. It went on to have an ok plot and story but the narrator made quite a few lines sound cheesy and even cringy.

Bad Narrator😖

I really wish this had been narrated by someone else. I just can’t get past this narrator’s voice and accent. It ruined the story for me, often making me cringe instead of melt/swoon.
