Historia
Rezkin is an elite warrior who aims to restore order in Ashai after Caydean's attack on the King's Tournament transformed former allies and trading partners into enemies. With no army and only a ragtag group of refugees, Rezkin must wrest control of the kingdom from the mad and powerful usurper, who seems bent on destruction, and this may not be the biggest challenge. If he fails, the kingdom will be ripped apart, and Rezkin will have violated Rule 1 - to protect and honor his friends.

still good though not as good as book 1 & 2
Revisado: 01-15-18
to me, the reviews slating this book are really harsh. it's still res, and it's a new type of adventure, not just more of the same. I was a bit disappointed at the end, I assume there is another book being written and I had hoped for more closure and relationship and character development. excellent narration & interesting characters and world. worthwhile IMO.

This is a great series, up there with Sanderson and the like. great value, interesting plot, characters with depth and a cool magic system, society and history. going to be hard to wait till end of 2018 to read book 3.

Historia
Minalan gave up a promising career as a professional warmage to live the quiet life of a village spellmonger in the remote mountain valley of Boval. It was a peaceful, beautiful little fief, far from the dangerous feudal petty squabbles of the Five Duchies, on the world of Callidore. There were cows. Lots of cows. And cheese. For six months things went well: He found a quaint little shop, he befriended the local lord, the village folk loved him, he found a sharp young apprentice to help out, and, best yet, he met a comely young widow with the prettiest eyes.

3.5 stars. got a lot better toward end
Revisado: 10-24-17
This book lacked the x factor for me and i found a lot of it slow, especially when it flicked between th current war and the ferizian war from his earlier days. the latter didn't add a lot to the story and felt like filler. happily the book redeemed itself in the last few hours.

cliche character, annoying narration
Revisado: 06-16-17
struggled to finish. The narrator had an annoying way of pronouncing t and c sounds often which sounded slightly cough like or breathless. The writing was over the top, so the character that could be cool was really unbelievable. I found this book really irritating. if I hadn't bought as a 2 for 1 special I would have returned it for a refund. story line was the saving grace.

Historia
Eric didn't ask to be a vampire. In fact he didn't even believe in them. Biting your own tongue with your fangs does a lot of convincing. Even so, being a part-time undead isn't as easy as you might think. It can let you hold down a day job, true, but sometimes the night "life" can be more than a little difficult, what with those bloodthirsty urges and predatory instincts kicking in.

Revisado: 01-18-17
Ok so the first 5 chapters she is a bit whiney and whinge repetitively about her predicament. he's a miserable negative pratt but do stick with it. the book totally redeems itself soon after and it's a great book. The narrator is perfect for the character, at once whimsical and aloof and real too so you feel you know agnieshka. I'm sure I spelt that wrong, ah well. The wood is fascinating and the magic gets better and better. a highly engaging book.
