Good addition to series, but....
Revisado: 04-18-19
So i hate it when that switch readers but not his fault. However, not a perfect performance. Example, he gives the main character a southern accident when he isn't a southerner and doesnt have one in the first book. Story wise, not as much adapting and survival as i wanted, mainly political and fighting between the town and a new foe.

Historia
Already cited on the floor of Congress and discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a book all Americans should read, One Second After is the story of a war scenario that could become all too terrifyingly real. Based upon a real weapon - the Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) - which may already be in the hands of our enemies, it is a truly realistic look at the awesome power of a weapon that can destroy the entire United States.

A must read for the genre

Inspired by alas Babylon by pat frank this is a modern telling of a similar story. An EMP hits the U.S. and survival of a small town ensuse. Realistic and not played as this genre often is.

A must read

Early post apocalyptic story with racial tones of the time. Not the usual depression story of the genre.

Historia
The totalitarian East has triumphed in a massive invasion, and the United States has fallen to a dictatorial superpower bent on total domination. That power is consolidating its grip through concentration camps, police state tactics, and a total monopoly upon the very thoughts of the conquered populace. A tiny enclave of scientists and soldiers survives, unbeknownst to America’s new rulers. It’s six against six million - but those six happen to include a scientific genius, a master of subterfuge and disguise who learned his trade as a lawyer-turned-hobo, and a tough-minded commander....

Great pacing like always for this author. This book sets a whole changed world in motion so smoothly you don't feel a long build up or introduction.
