the female lead is a bit.. hmmm

she is quite an immature and simplistic caricature of a dumb woman. It was entertaining, but ,,,,,at times, it was a bit frustrating to keep listening through her immature life choices. She barely makes it professionally (keeps waking up late bc of late night drinking), and relationship-wise, keeps making self-centered and immature decisions. Also,,,, are we still in high school????!? wtf with BF putting stakes on a man? such an unnecessary and frustrating bitchy best friend challenge put on by some stupid highschool behavior...

The title implies a brainless, spendthrift, shallow romance. The book actually carries characters with depth that gives credence to good plotline, and has very little to do with earls who just want to have fun.
so,,,, ignore the title and enjoy the book.

The story has a very nice pacing (similar to Wolfgate), with lots of likable characters. The performance was good. Overall, thoroughly enjoyable storytelling.

Decent story, a bit iffy on the "American" accent

in general, it's a cute story with some steamy scenes.
the only downside is that whenever the narrator attempts the American accent, it just comes off as a bizarre mixture of Irish meet British verbiage and a bit cringe (which is unfortunate because the main female character is an American). it is very clear that the narrator is unfamiliar with American / NY accent, and it may have been less cringe and a bit easier to listen if she just didn't attempt to do the accent at all.

the narration for 1st book was just.. too dreamy and breathless to the point of cringe.

start with book 2 (chapter 24). the narrator gets much better by the 2nd book and on.

I've been binge reading romance novels and this one is one of the best! It's sweet, heartbreaking, heartwarming, humourous, and eloquent. I hate NYC but I love the NYC that the author portrays :)
