It had several expertly weaved stories with beginnings and ends that fit together under the arc of the bigger picture.

Historia
Five years ago Corin Cadence's brother entered the Serpent Spire - a colossal tower with ever-shifting rooms, traps, and monsters. Those who survive the spire's trials return home with an attunement: a mark granting the bearer magical powers. According to legend, those few who reach the top of the tower will be granted a boon by the spire's goddess. He never returned. Now it's Corin's turn. He's headed to the top floor, on a mission to meet the goddess.

Bogged down in unimportant details
Revisado: 10-09-19
Turns out this fiction belongs to a genre called LitRPG. It's more RPG than Lit, FYI.
My wife and I began listening to this book on our daily drive to work which was about 40 minutes. I think we only listen to it for 3 days before I had to go see what other people were saying about the book and realized it was just a dead end for us.
The main character was unrelatable and gave almost no emotional context for events of the story, and all the action that took place was unengaging because we weren't emotionally connected to the characters having a fight. It read like someone taking constant inventory of environmental surroundings and assessing the rules and possibilities of interacting with those surroundings, and rare one-word token feelings: "creepy."

Historia
The Tao Te Ching is perfect for those who would like to delve deeper into the intriguing nature of the Tao and to gain a deeper understanding of life and the nature of reality. This series of meditations is also a great way to gain a better understanding of ancient Chinese beliefs. In ancient China, Tao, also known as the Way, is believed to be the guiding light of the soul and the very source of existence. For generations, the Tao Te Ching had drawn scholars from around the world, including those who sought understand human existence.

Way too quickly spoken
Revisado: 11-21-17
This is a deeply meditative work. The narrator, while clear is speaking so quickly I can barely have time to register the idea before he moves on to the next verse, and I have read this before! There are no inflections in this narrator’s reading as if he has no idea what the words are trying to convey. Even at 75% speed it’s still awkward to listen to. Go elsewhere if you have never read/ heard the Dao De Ching before.
